This is one section that is getting a couple of rules applied that have not been attended before now - various Admins and Mods have suggested this in the past, it's now becoming official.

1. There must be an arbitrator/GM. The style of roleplay can be as defined or free-form as you like, but someone has to decide the outcome of actions made in the fight, and of the fight itself. Obviously, unless this is someone other than one of the combatants, the fight is unfair and no one may want to take part, but it's up to the person who starts the thread.

2. Only training lightsabers are used and no lethal blows allowed. These duels are just practice, not fights to the death. When either opponent successfully lands a blow with a lightsaber, they make an electric shock (sometimes strong enough to knock out the person hit), but do not sever limbs or kill. This way no one has to hold back their fighting style to avoid killing their opponent, and while combatants may get hurt (it is a fight, after all), all injuries should be minor and easily healed.

In addition to these rules, it's best to add another factor, that of choosing a time for the duel. Otherwise a simple fight can drag on for quite a while, as you wait for the ref to rule on your move, your opponent to make their counter-move, and then wait for the ref to rule on their move, before you can make your next attack.

The basic structure for threads in this section is simple - two or more players engage in a duel, with an arbitrator making judgements on what moves are successful. If two players know they want to duel before starting the thread, they may just announce their duel and proceed - if they already know who is arbitrating, fine, otherwise the first post is asking for someone to volunteer. If one player wants to hone their skills and practice against an opponent, they can make a thread asking for both someone to fight, and someone to referee the fight.

Alternately, a GM can make a thread offering their services. These should be called something like "Scourge's Dojo" or "Zero's Training Grounds" - one person is offering to referee anyone who has a fight in their thread, and will name any starting rules they have in the first post. In these cases, particular duels will likely also need to have a chosen time, but once one fight is over, another can begin in the same thread.

Now that we have all that out of the way, go to it, and prove your prowess in personal combat!

This is general guidelines when entering into a practice fight. There are rules but some are more flexible than others.

Before any duel can take place the combatant must pick who to fight, for in cases like duels set by masters then duelists must find there own partner. This will be done in the Training room. A person seeking a partner will post and request a partner and someone will reply.....

Once you have your partner then you must have a GM/Referee. Both of you (or one representing both) will ask for a GM in one of there respected centers. Only high ranking Sith can be referees due to the fact that they are most likely to be good at it. I will post my GM centre which is called Duffs Coliseum
Once a GM has been found the rules are stated you but all have to agree to them...

I believe that there can be various different types of practice duel and I have some suggestions about rules duels.

1. A duel with two combatants, free flow battle until one clearly puts another in a stance where in real life death would be inevitable or a forfeit is announced.
2. A duel with three rounds, as above but best of 3
3. A duel with three rounds in which one can win the round by burning (not seriously) your opponent.
4. A duel with three rounds each testing something different, e.g. only force, only saber, only hand-to-hand.

They are only some suggestions, anyone starting a practice duel from now must follow the format. Any questions just post here....

I have a question. Can a combatant GM the duel he or she is in?

Question - Is there a specific time limit, where if one person doesn't reply in a certain amount of time they forfeit?
