I thought it'd be nice to have a thread for general discussion of music, and also to recommend music to each other.

HOWEVER, I'd like to lay down some ground rules for the discussion. First of all, if you don't like a band, back it up, don't just say "oh, they're crap, they're guitarist sucks". Explain why they're guitarist sucks.

Secondly, if you don't like the band, you can diss the band all you like (provided you back your disses up) but don't diss someone's taste in music, as a moderator I'll consider that a personal attack on another member and will intervene accordingly.

Anyway, I'll kick of the discussions with my music list;

Three Days Grace, Marilyn Manson, Innerpartysystem, Greenday, Scatman John, Sum 41, Eminem, Weezer, The Killers, Kings of Leon, Kaiser Chiefs, People In Planes, Bowling For Soup, Katy Perry, Pendulum, Meat Loaf, Cancer Bats, Rolo Tomassi, Muse, Red Hot Chili Peppers, Primus, Fall Out Boy, William Control, Fair to Midland, Beirut, The Frames, Linkin Park, Slipknot and Rammestein.

Those are the bands and solo artists I mainly listen to. If I was forced to pick a number one, I'd have to go with 3DG as the band and Scatman John as the solo artist.

As for your seconds rule, High Mage, you are not a Moderator of this forum, so your powers do not come over this forum. You may point out the attack to either an Admin or Mod of this forum. But that is it.

I simply meant that if rules were broken, I would warn the rule breakers, which if I remember correctly, is a power that all mods possess. Since in earlier days, Crozeus modded me this way in Kroprulu Cantina and early into his return, Aequitas modded Thrax this way in Coruscant Debates, I had always assumed this was a standard power for mods.

I agree with Serratus. That is always how I imagined a moderator to be. Someone that kept things under control.

Especially considering we haven't seen much of the MODs of this section of the site for some time.

I miss the Duck Sad

That's quite a selection you got there Dean. Rammstein ftw.

I really miss the old and original members of the site. I mean, how awesome would it be to have Acrimonus, Ducki, Scourge, Duff and Qel'Vos back?

Anyways, yes, Rammstein ftw. My favorite band would be Coheed and Cambria and my favorite solo artist would have to be The Prize Fighter Inferno.

I actually like most of the music you like. The only two that stand-out that I do not like are Lady Gaga and Marilyn Manson.

I can't describe really why I don't like Gaga, it's just personal reasons I geuss. However, I loath Marilyn Manson. To me, he is creepy, and I may not be the most christian guy, but I just can't stand when a guy will deliberately curse God.

Ducki is kinda here, though she hasn't been seen for a while.

Qel'vos popped back in a little while ago too, then left without a word.

Ironically, Cody, Lady GaGa has a thing for Marilyn Manson and Marilyn Manson is a huge Lady GaGa fan, and they're collaborating on remixes of each other's songs.

Marylin Manson blew a snot rocket on the front row of his crowd... and he had swine flu.

He's still a deeply intelligent and profoundly wise man, whatever his faults. And I think his music is challenging and tackles important issues across generations and subcultures, even if it has to shock a reaction out of people, while mocking itself, as music sometimes needs to do.

Tchaikovsky is probably my favourite romantic composer, along with Grieg. "1812 Overture" would be my favourite Tchaikovsky piece.

I used to listen to a lot of Bob Marley, Foo Fighters, Blink 182, Regina Spektor and Apocalyptica, in fact, I used to listen to a lot of people on your list Odin, but after a while, my music kind of boiled away to a few essentials instead of the hundreds I used to listen to. It's still nice to finger-snap along to some Billy Joel or headbob to Bob Marley once in a while though.

Rachmaninoff had a handspan of 30cm.

Imagine being fist-

No, I won't say it.

In fact, Valdimir is a western Slavic name, does not have a Russian origin at all.
