Vala was waiting up on a large balcony overlooking a bright city on Malastare. It was a clear but wet night because it had just rained. The large moon was peeking through the clouds and the wet stone floor of the balcony made Vala's feet slide slightly.

"Great. It's wet." She grumbled. Vala was waiting patiently for someone to arrive.

Sovereign Defender Tarna

A shuttle zoomed through the skies above Malastare, barely visible in the moonlight. It flew for a large balcony and slowed down to make it's landing. The shuttle touched ground and lowered a large ramp. A man appeared at the top of the ramp. He wore red armor on his chest, shoulders and arms which covered a black form-fitting suit. On his shoulders were the symbols signifying his rank; two black stars in a line, a purple crown, and two more black stars. Hanging from his belt were two lightsaber hilts.

Shadow Protector Tarna looked down at Darth Nighthawk and smiled, "Young Nighthawk, I was surprised to receive your invitation."

Vala soon heard a ship coming closer. She looked up and watched the sillouette come into view. She stayed silent as she watched it land and saw Lord Tarna appear. After he spoke, Vala responded.

"Emperor's orders. I get to duel someone of my choice. I chose you." Vala then let her black cloak fall to the ground. She grabbed both her sabers. "I understand that you have two sabers as well. This ought to be an interesting duel." She then got into the shii-cho stance. "Tell me, is that armor made of the metal called Cortosis?"

Sovereign Defender Tarna

Tarna unclipped his lightsabers, but did not activate them. "Very astute, yes, I had my armor laced with a cortosis weave. An extra precaution in case of attack by traitorous Sith...or a mis-guided light-sider." Tarna walked slowly down the ramp with his hilts in hand and stood calmly in front of Nighthawk.

Vala nodded. She now knew the armor was impenitrable. Vala had her sabers ignited. The red glow of the blades reflected off a puddle by her feet. The saber in her right hand was positioned above her head pointed toward Tarna, the other was positioned horizontally out in front of her at the height of her waist. Her right foot was positioned behind her so that she could push off the floor and head toward Tarna. Her other foot was almost underneath her.

Vala pushed off the ground hard and her saber in her right hand came at Tarna horizontally while her other saber moved to a downward point, ready to make a diagonal upward slash.

Tarna activated the blade in his left hand and held it at a downward diagonal angle, and watched as the two red blades clashed with his golden one. Then he quickly followed the parry with a punch from his right hand across Nighthawk's jaw. As she stumbled back from the hit, Tarna sent out a wave in the Force, sending her several feet back through the air.

Vala slammed into the wall. Pain shot through her but she ignored it because her anger quickly took over. She wanted to get angry. Her anger and rage is what fuled her. Vala got back on her feet. She then lifted Tarna up with the force and pushed him off the balcony onto the sidewalk below. She jumped down after him, pointing her sabers right at him as she fell toward him.

Tarna landed in a crouch on the ground and then quickly rolled as Vala's sabers plunged into the concrete where he had just landed. He ignited his other blade and twirled them both around. He could see that she was getting angry, which would also mean she would get stronger. He stabbed with his right blade and swung wide with the left, attacking from multiple directions.

Vala landed in a crouch when Tarna moved and when he jabbed at her she fell back. When his other blade swung around, she stuck up both blades and shoved his blade aside. She kicked him back with both feet and jumped back to her feet.

She used force speed. Everything slowed down for Vala. She came back at Tarna and swung her right blade at his right hand, hoping he would drop his saber. Her left arm came up, ready for his other blade should he attack with his left saber.

Tarna dropped to the ground, lying flat on his back. As he landed, he reached out to Nighthawk's feet and blasted them with Force lightning. Vala lost control of her footing, which Tarna used as an opportunity to rise to his feet once more. He stood in front of her as she tried to re-gain stability, but he did not allow her the chance.

He charged at her, one saber held high, ready to slash at her neck...and the other low, prepared to slice her waist.
