Welcome to the Dark Sith Lords discussion board. I am Lord Scourge, one of several Sith Lords on the board, as well as the Main Administrator, in charge of running the board that hosts the roleplaying and storytelling adventures of a Sith Empire that is set a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....

However, while I run the board itself, I do not command the Empire. That honor falls on Emperor Shadow, who commands us all with a harsh but fair rule. You will find out the Empire is vast and complicated, and there are many opportunities for a Sith who wishes to join us and rise through the ranks.

In order to gain rank and power on this board, you will want to know the rules which are enforced here, and how things are managed, both through the in-character roleplay, and the out-of-character administration and moderation of the board itself. The rules are:

1) This is a roleplay board. We are here to develop characters within the context of a new Sith Empire. You may want to think about what kind of character you want to play before making an account. The structure of the board is centered around Force-users who wish to join the Empire, train as a Sith, and rise through the ranks. However, there are other options as well. We welcome Jedi from other forums, and simply ask them to identify themselves. We have a Bounty Hunter's Guild, accept Troopers to receive elite training in our Military, and could easily have some Smugglers ready to ply their trade here.

If you wish to join the Empire and train to become a Sith, you do not need to post in the Entrance Hall. Post your application to join the Empire in the Office of Citizenship forum, and see if there is a Master who wishes to train you.

If you do not wish to bother with the rank structure here, but would rather be a Bounty Hunter, introduce yourself as a Jedi, or be something else, then please post in the Entrance Hall so we can give you the appropriate "rank" for your position.

In either case, please put your name in the subject line of your introductory thread.

2) Do not create a name with "Darth", "Lord" or "Lady". Those are titles here, and will be granted to users as they advance within the ranks. Also, be original and don't call yourself Vader or Revan. Note that names common within the Star Wars context are fine as part of your name.

3) The number of posts you make has nothing to do with increasing your rank on this board. Once you have joined, a Sith Master can take you on as an Apprentice. The Master will then assign missions in the appropriate forums, and after you have completed your training, spending at least seven days roleplaying on the board, you will be granted a "Darth" name.

4) This is a roleplay board. If you're not interested in roleplaying, why are you here? This is not to say you have to roleplay all the time you are here, but be aware that anyone you talk to may be "in character", and saying things to them that don't make any sense within a Star Wars context is really just interrupting their roleplay. Please avoid references that only make sense on Earth. The major exceptions to this, are the forums within the Sith Errata section.

5) Forums are marked as In-Character and Out-Of-Character, and this indicates whether the posts in that forum are between the characters, or the players. The Entrance Hall, while unmarked, is mostly In-Character, but given that we often have to use this forum to clarify the board rules, there is quite a bit of Out-Of-Character posting as well.

((Often you will notice one portion of a post in double-parentheses, like this. Doing so is the standard way to mark OOC comments within an otherwise IC context.))

You are welcome to post to the Sith Errata forums as soon as you have made an account and posted your application in the Office of Citizenship or here in the Entrance Hall, but please wait until your profile has been accepted before posting to In-Character forums. Posting to random forums trying to get someone's attention will not endear you to anyone.

6) If you ask a Mod or Admin a question that is answered by an announcement thread, they may reply with nothing more than a link to the appropriate announcement. Most forums are for a specific purpose, and in most cases there is an announcement thread at the top of the threads that explains what is or is not appropriate to post in that forum. Additionally, there is a Royal Courtyard forum that explains what is or is not appropriate on the entire board.

7) If you have an objection to the behavior of another user, please direct that complaint to a Moderator of that forum, or an Administrator - please do not interrupt a roleplay with a complaint. If you have an objection to the behavior of a Mod or Admin, please direct that complaint to the Main Administrator, Lord Scourge. I try to log in at least once a day, but sometimes that's not possible. Sending me multiple PM's asking about the same issue is not appreciated.

8) In case you still haven't been paying attention, this is a roleplay board. If you challenge someone, expect them to respond in character. If you challenge a Sith Lord or Sith Lady, expect to lose your conflict with them. If you challenge our Emperor, expect many loyal Sith to respond to your treason.

I hope this is clear. If you ignore these guidelines, don't act surprised when an Admin or Mod tells you that what you have done is a problem.

-Scourge

Ranks on the Forum

The Council of Lords has been in debate for weeks, and we have finally determined the new rank structure. I am making the post, and making the updates to the board at this time, but this is with the authority of our Emperor and all members of the Council.

If you are only visiting the Sith Empire as a Jedi, Bounty Hunter, Trooper or Smuggler, and do not wish to join our ranks, please post in the Entrance Hall, introducing yourself. We will give you an appropriate rank. If you are something else entirely, I’m sure we can come up with something to accomidate you.

When you create an account and make a post to the Applications thread in the Applications and Selections forum, you will be given the rank of Dark Adept.

Once you are a Dark Adept, post your profile to the Applications and Selections forum, so that a more experienced Sith can reply to your profile and offer to take you as an apprentice. You will be given the rank of Sith Apprentice.

[While we understand the eagerness to gain a rank, we do not recommend that a Dark Adept accept apprenticeship the moment any Master or potential Master makes an offer. Please be aware that if the Sith offering to train you is not yet a Master, they must be approved to take an apprentice, while if they are already a Master, accepting their offer may be preventing another from gaining in rank. It is wise to take some consideration regarding who to take apprenticeship from, and you may wish to read through some of your potential Master’s posts before accepting their offer.]

After at least a week of missions, and once you have impressed your Master that you have the basic skills necessary for a Sith, they will inform the Council in the Initiation Chambers. A Lord or Lady of the Council will test you, and once satisfied, you will be knighted. When you are knighted, you may select a new name, with “Darth” as a title, and you can chose whether you are identified as a Sith Warrior or a Sith Acolyte.

Once a Sith Warrior or Acolyte has proven themselves through at least another week of roleplay and performing services in honor of the Empire and our Emperor, they may ask to become a Sith Master. When a Dark Adept posts their profile, a Sith Warrior, Acolyte, or an already experienced Sith Master, may reply that they wish to train this new Sith. If a Lord approves, the Sith who takes their first apprentice will become a Sith Master.

Once a sith master has risen through the primary ranks of master the Council will select them when they think they are ready for the next promotion.

[When a Warrior or Acolyte finds an Adept interested in apprenticing to them, please post in the Initiation Chambers. Tell us of the roleplay or other contributions you have made to the board since being knighted, so we can understand whether you are ready to teach another. We will then grant you the rank of Sith Master, and you can take the Adept as your Sith Apprentice.]

When a Sith Master has taken at least two apprentices, and has proven their value to the Empire, they may take a role in one of the Sith Orders. When this happens, the head of that Order will test them, and if the Master is found worthy, they will become a Sith Marauder (if they were a Warrior) or a Sith Priest (if they were an Acolyte). They can have their login changed to reflect the title they have been awarded, or they may choose to continue to display their Darth name.

From those who have excelled in their role as a Marauder or Priest, our Emperor will select those she wishes to invest as Sith Lord or Sith Lady.

He is wise in the counsel he takes from the existing Lords and Ladies in her decision on these matters, and the Lords and Ladies he trusts the most, are granted a position on the Sith Council, and the high office of Dark Sith Lord or Dark Sith Lady

Above the Council, of course, is the Emperor himself.
