General Character and Roleplay Notes in the Star Wars Universe

When roleplaying, it is important to keep a couple of key considerations in mind; always have a sense of perspective and offer realism in response to the recreational postings of another user. Importantly, it is also to remember that everyone here comes to escape the drama and theatrics of the real world. Stay cordial and have fun!

Additionally, God-Modding [hijacking another user’s character for the purpose of a hasty, favorable end in your favor] is strictly prohibited. Under no circumstance is it permissible for a user to dictate the progression of another user’s intellectual property.
Keep in mind that your actions can affect entire storylines. Carefully research any notes and keep up with out-of-character discussions on a roleplay as they often provide key insight into the plot and character development.

Science is science. Whether or not you are participating in a duel or a planetary battle, you cannot change the weather, magically summon a reserve army from the Unknown Regions, or strip another of the Force. Bear in mind what Kreia [Darth Traya] told Jedi Exile [paraphrased]: “The Force users of today are like children playing with toys compared to the Sith of Old.” Power knows bounds, even to a Force-using madman/woman.

Given that science is science whether in this galaxy or one far, far away, take into account the following things: It takes thirty minutes to escape the gravity well of a planet. Fleeing attack war ships with naught but your lightsaber and a breathmask would take considerably longer, so please take that into account while you roleplay. Jumping out of hyperspace and/or receiving aid from the surface of Mustafar in your time of peril would take the time of mobilization, exiting the planet’s gravity well, transit, descent, and tracking your location. Does this mean that you can mysteriously invent new powers to crush your foes like the rebel scum that they are? Well, it really does depend on your rank and imagination.

Therefore, it would be considered unlikely that you can inhabit the body of others. Likewise, it would seem impossible for you to shape the course of galactic events when we have an Emperor and Dark Lords currently doing that.

Your character cannot survive a lightsaber jab to the chest. For more on this phenomena see Darth Maul’s death in Episode One: The Phantom Menace.

Your character does not possess allies in the Outer-Rim, Unknown Regions, Wild Space, Hutt Space, the Red Dragon Empire, or on the forest moon of Endor. The Eternal Empire [the roleplay power of this website] spans from Kuat to Vector Prime and only has left Wild Space and the Unknown Regions for reasons no common Sith could comprehend. However, that does not mean you have been working your diplomacy and suddenly have a flotilla of Chiss warships on your side in a battle just because we choose not to conquer them.

Keep in mind that the powers you possess in terms of Force usage stem from your rank. We have a rank system here. The Staff kindly recommends you read it, kiss it, love it, and memorize it. Our users will be quick to point out that it is not probable for a First Degree Master to know Battle Meditation or Force Storm. But what if you secretly studied with a splinter sect of Sith sages on the remote planet of Doomtopia? Well, you didn’t. That’s how we know. Or what if you stumbled across a holocron of Tulak Hord or Freedon Nadd while marauding in the Outer Rim after killing your parents and stealing a pleasure yacht from a crooked crime lord? The Eternal Empire has accounted for all missing holocrons. The chances of you finding much less honing the skills of one at a low rank are improbable at best.

Exceptions can be made. Fantastically written and probable character back stories and biographies are often praised by Staffers and veteran users. We seek to create a realistic experience. So if you receive training from a rogue Sith like Kreia or the Dark Woman [a Dark Horse Comics character killed by Darth Vader after the Clone Wars], make it believable.

In the same vein, extraordinary powers are permissible if A.) No one challenges your claim to that power or B.) The rules of the roleplay permit exploration of non-standard Force powers. Typically a user posts rules to a roleplay, such as “This duel will take place in an arena. The arena has been abandoned for a generation; rocks and moss overgrow much of the area. Standard Force powers, standard Sith weapons, and no killing.” However, someone else may choose: “This group battle takes place in an operational droid factory on Geonosis. All Force powers are acceptable.”

Usually, a user has an inventory of their personal weapons listed somewhere. If they do not, simply ask them what it is they are bringing into a roleplay. Sometimes, given location, a topic-starter has a definite home-turf advantage in that they can preset mines or other Sithly booby traps. This is not god-modding, this is simple and devious preparation.

Otherwise, we’re all here to have fun. Being cordial and cooperative in the face of adversity lends you a lot of credibility on this forum. Be smart about posting, that is the bottom line in this entire roleplay process.
