The sun eased over the horizon on Kuat like a lingering thought, its golden rays piercing the last remaining areas of its route before the darkness and the moon did their nightly dance. Usually Kuat was a bustling place of activity, speeders zooming in and out of traffic zones going about their usual business of high speed lives. But traffic slowed down, people were returning to their comfortable apartments over looking beautiful parks and for the unfortunate overlooking the slums of the planet. While the normal men, women, alien, or non-sentient being returned home, deep within the city the Sith Temple of Kuat was a normal hub of general activity.
The halls of the Sith temple were usually filled with prospects, students, teachers, masters, and lords of all types but most corridors were empty beside their guards standing in their usual posts. The last remaining hopefuls that were invited to the grand ceremony were running to the outside courtyard where some of the galaxy’s most powerful Sith were gathered amongst the other students and masters in a large ceremony to honor two great and powerful sith in their ascension to Lordship. Sitting quietly in the center of the stage on a beautiful designed wooden seat, the Emperor’s piercing gaze moved across the gathering crowd. On his sides were the Dark Lords of the Empire as well as the two beings being honored on this day.
The crowds finally took their seats and quickly quieting one another as the Emperor, the most powerful Sith of the galaxy and the Darkest Lord of all the Lords present stood up from his erected throne. With graceful steps that would be envied by dancers the Emperor approached the podium that stood in the center, the sun at its peak lighting the sky in an orange glow that complemented the Emperor’s violet robes. Raising one bony finger the crowds fell silent of any whispers, fear striking their hearts as the Emperor’s words reached their ears, “Today isn’t a day of learning, it is a day of honor, a day of power, a day of transcendence. Years before, I too, stood here on a day, just as our two honored guests stand here today. Today I stand here, just as many other Emperors and Empresses and Dark Lords have stood before crowds speaking almost the exact same words as their predecessors. Each remembering the past, reminding the hopefuls of the path before them, the struggles, the devotion, and the strength that one must possess to climb to the position that the two men being honored tonight have earned.”
“No, I will not waste your time repeating the same words your Masters force you to say quietly to yourself as you endure one of the most agonizing rituals you’ve ever faced, to use your anger and pain, to be strong. No, I will not waste anyone’s time by being repetitious and condescending. We have all heard the messages of our Masters if we are present here for this celebration. What I leave you with is not wisdom, but reality: the journey of the a Sith is not simple; it is not for the frail; it is not for most of you in this crowd but for those individuals that it is you will find yourself in a position of greatness and with an even greater journey before you. The path to power is never ending, it is a continuous bridge across a bottomless pit, for the weak it ends only half way but for the strong it will guide you forever against new odds and new struggles. Whoever said the path of the Sith was simple lied, it is continuous and long and only individuals like the two tonight realize that the bridge never ends and the journey never ceases.”
“I now ask that Supreme Commander Marix, member of the Sith Order, please rise and come before you all.” The Emperor pivoted slightly to look at Marix and motioned him forward so that the Sith could witness the rise of their Supreme Commander. _________________ A blessed rage for order
