The communiqué had gone out from the Darkest Knight one standard month ago, upon Emperor Shadow’s appointment of a new Darkest Knight. It was actually his first appointment of a Darkest Knight, Emperor Jeridan Peverell Shesh Dilbrun had only appointed a Grand Vizier until now. Supreme Commander Marix had been, at that time, out with his fleet observing the newly trained Captains’ performances in a large-scale mock battle. He had ended up leading the enemy side, Darker Intentions which had taken its name from Darth Marix’s Executor-Class Super Star Destroyer, when their flagship had been “destroyed” along with the Admiral in charge. Under his command, Darker Intentions overturned the battle and defeated the good side, Empire’s Defender.
He had only just received the second communiqué and having seen to the scheduling of refits and repairs to the ships used in the mock battle, ordered the Guardian-Class Star Destroyer, The Commander’s Blade to head for Kuat. The Guardian-Class Star Destroyer had been designed by Supreme Commander Marix himself, along with the Valiant-Class Star Destroyer and the Hero-Class Frigate and was part of a large-scale revamping of the Sith Imperial Navy; updating and strengthening The Power, The Strength, And The Might Behind The Empire.
The Commander’s Blade had arrived exactly one standard day before the scheduled meeting, and Supreme Commander Marix had spent the time gathering together the most up to date reports on resources and readiness of troops, as well as threatening bureaucrats to not screw anything up, which was something he rather enjoyed doing as he disliked politicians and bureaucrats even more than he hated losing a battle.
Darth Marix marched down the long hallway, escorted by an entire platoon of Imperial Marines from the 41st and 501st Elite Legion, which traced its lineage back to the Clone Wars. The Marines, as part of the Navy, were the best trained, the brightest, and the most capable troops of the Sith Imperial Armed Forces. The escort had not been requested by the Supreme Commander, but rather the Legionnaires had requested the duty themselves, and to award them, Marix allowed them the honor. The 41st and 501st Legions were both assigned to the 2nd Imperial Fleet, and as such were with him more than most of the time. Each Legion represented exactly half of the escorting platoon with the commanding officer being chosen ahead of time by a scheduled system.
The 32 men, each fully armed and armored in Katarn Elite Commando armor, halted outside of the great chamber, and began taking up defensive positions and sending out reconnaissance forces throughout the building and the city, as well as communicating with the central command aboard the Star Destroyer that floated in space above. They largely left the Royal Guardsmen alone, only communicating a few times about the Guard’s own evacuation routes and plans.
Supreme Commander Marix paused, and then opened the great oak doors, which moved noiselessly on their almost ancient hinges, and gave a small nod to the Guardsmen at attention outside the doors. He walked into the room, at a slightly slower march. Walking over to the seat on the opposite side of the table from Magisto—which was still empty—and before sitting down, gave a salute to Magisto. The salute was like a salute from the commanding officer to a subordinate, but held more respect in its crispness and clean-cut execution. Darth Marix still viewed now-Lord Magisto as a Military man, and it was his custom to call Sith by their Military rank if they held any, regardless of other titles.
“Admiral.” He said as he dropped the salute. Nodding at the other Order Heads gathered here, he placed his two data-pads on the table and took his seat. Gazing around, he noticed the High Protector was present, along with the High Prophet, and wondered if High General Vexen had been included on Magisto’s mailing list. _________________
