Believe it or not, I haven't been slacking...Greetings all,I know that the Holocron has been fairly static since the first articles, but there has been a reason for that... the New Essential Chronology made a number of important changes to official continuity, and until I got a copy to read all the way through, I wasn't going to post more history that might have to change quickly after that. I've still been writing more material for here, I just haven't been posting it while I've been trying to incorporate info from the NEC. Then there's the problem that some NEC retcons are rather problematic, and make it hard to reconcile other sources - I've been asking Dan Wallace, the author, and Leland Chee, the official continuity expert at LFL, how this now works, and have yet to get a satisfactory answer. The current status of this is my latest blog article there, because Mr. Chee expressed that he didn't see the discrepencies I was seeing: http://blogs.starwars.com/LordScourge/7 Because of all the problems, I ended up ordering myself a copy of the long-since out-of-print Tales of the Jedi Companion - I had read a friend's copy at one point, but I hadn't seen it in years. As a result, I'm trying to update my articles with information from that as well. So, I'm sorry there's been such a delay, but pretty soon, I'll be making regular posts. I just need to get a better answer regarding why this change was made, and how reliable this information is being considered, and I need to start integrating material from my newly acquired TOTJ Companion. At this point, I'm starting to see the NEC as an inherently flawed source, as my blog article describes. -Scourge |
