Djinn
Clash of Titans ((Djinn vs. Prophet Crozeus))((Interesting title, eh? When you have the time of day or night, and when you report here, I'll make the opening post. I've been told to duel you as part of my training, since you specialize in my preferred lightsaber styles.))
High Prophet Crozeus
((Yes, Titans. I'm ready.))
Djinn
Djinn awaited his opponent, a Prophet, by the name of Crozeus, in a lush garden off the side of a large palace-like structure. His hair toiled in the swift winds that blew by him, shifting and twisting the leather parts of his suit that didn't stick to his body as if a second second, outer skin. His arms lay folded behind his back, clasped together just above his belt, his gaze laid onto a simple flower which sprouted from the vibrant green grass just before his feet.
"Alright, let's get this going." Djinn said to himself, almost, as he slightly felt the presence of a powerful being coming his way, he just assumed it was his temporary foe, Prophet Crozeus.
High Prophet Crozeus
Billowing out behind him like white smoke Crozeus entered the garden adorned in his white Prophet's robes. Unlike the Supreme Prophet, Crozeus preferred to have his clean, and the contrast given by his black tunic and boots gave him a startling appearance. He approached the new apprentice to the Grand Mage, a man by the name of Djinn.
"So, what Form, or Forms, are the ones you specialise in?" He enquired, reflecting briefly over how Djinn was older than him.
Djinn
((I'm only 18 standard years on here))
"I prefer Vaapad or Juyo. If those aren't options, then I'd like Ataru." Djinn said in a nearly monotone voice, smirking a bit as he noticed the awkward, at least to him, combination of colors worn by the Prophet. "I don't want to sound short, or rude in any way, Prophet," Djinn began, now folding his arms across his chest, ".. but I'd like to skip the small talk, and get this over with, because in all honesty, you're just a stepping stone on the path of my training, I'd like to get things rolling."
Djinn wasn't cocky with his words, he didn't show that he was hostile in any way possible, he was honestly just eager to get things going, so he could return to his master and continue his training.
"Teach me something, fair Prophet." Djinn said, slowly pulling the only weapon he had in his arsenal out from his jacket, a knife, apparently made from a cortosis-woven material.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus smiled, not at all offended by the words spoken so monotonously. "I know how you feel. But believe me, you've a long way to go than a few minutes of duelling."
He ignited his saber and twirled it around casually, the ruby and gold blade casting a wonderful aura around him. He held the blade low, the point quivering, poised slightly up, and gestured. "Attack me."
Djinn
"I know, but the first phase of my 'long journey' is started with these few minutes of dueling" Djinn said bluntly before twirling his blade in his hand. With a quick dash, he was found just before Crozeus, and with only a slight effort, shot his arm forward, bringing his dagger forward in fury, aiming for his opponent's torso.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus laughed and swept himself aside, switching hands and bringing the saber over his left shoulder, pushing the blade aside. He rapidly turned around and switched hands back, still holding his blade down, constantly twitching, a classic example of Form VII. "Good. Again."
Djinn
Djinn, making sure to take mental notes of the attack, simply shrugged it off as he flipped his blade to the other hand, and drove it towards Crozeus once again, this time going for his chest, lunging it upwards.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus sighed, his smile fading. Much of the same attack. He dodged again, but this time stuck his leg out so Djinn stumbled, coming round lightning fast and cutting him across the thigh. His saber was set on stun, but it could still cause a nasty burn.
"You are fast and powerful, but a lone knife is not enough to defeat some of the people you will have to do. See how Juyo utilises all forms of the body - punches, kicks et cetera, combined with cuts, to defeat opposition. Try it."
Djinn
((Forgive me if I seem to be 'god-modding' here, by controlling you for a sec, I promise it's not for bad purposes.))
Djinn caught himself, just barely, spiraling himself to his feet. He nodded, "I understand that I can't do much with a knife, it's all I've got, though." he charged forward just after his words dissipated to nothing, leading in with a simple punch, which of course was easily evaded, but then came a slash from his blade, which wasn't as easily stopped by Crozeus' lightsaber, but just as the blades met, Djinn sent forth his leg, sweeping it towards his opponent's legs.
High Prophet Crozeus
((Of course not. God-modding is only when you use another character to give yourself an edge. Literary benefits are fine.))
Crozeus jumped the sweep, and rapidly brought his saber up, unafraid of any attacks coming from the knife simply due to it's length. He placed two quick cuts on each shoulder, like Djinn was being knighted. Crozeus came down and dashed back.
"That was Vaapad. It differs from Juyo in that it uses lots of feints and remíses to confuse your foe, much like the creature it is named after. However, it is still based on speed and aggression, which is why they share the same Form number. For now, you can not perform it with any degree of skill until you get a better weapon. I would make constrcuting your saber a top priority."
Crozeus walked around Djinn. "Vaapad is not really a good form to use as a Sith, since we draw on the Dark Side anyway. I only learnt it to the degree I did so I could combine it's moves with that of others... as the Warrior of the Church I am expected to be proficient in all Forms of the saber... and more."
Djinn
Djinn, kneeling before Crozeus, smirked just slightly, before giving a nod to the Prophet, "Thank you, my friend." he boasted, liking the information provided to him throughout this duel. Djinn, who's blade was on the floor, flipped himself backwards, obviously thinking Crozeus would see it coming, and with the flick of his wrist sent the blade whirling towards his foe, simply as a distraction.
Using his basic knowledge of the force, Djinn sped himself up and sprinted, at lightning-like speeds, to the back of Crozeus, whereupon he sent his boot upwards, towards the Prophet's spine.
High Prophet Crozeus
Years of training had honed Crozeus' reflexes to the point where he could let the Force move his body for him, to superhuman extremes. That said, it was still a shock to him when he wheeled around and grabbed the boot of the apprentice, the force behind the move sending Crozeus back. Fortunately, this brough Djinn forth too, and he was unbalanced, and it was an easy matter for the Prophet to send him to the floor. Yet, he was pleased.
"Very good, you almost caught me. Most Sith would have been fooled by that."
He offered his hand to Djinn.
Djinn
"Several years of practice, and all I get is 'You almost caught me'." Djinn said in slight disappointment, shaking his head as he dusted off his should, now in a slight crouch near the ground. He looked up to Crozeus, taking his hand quickly, his obvious confidence and trust shown in his movements.
"I still have much to learn, Prophet. You were right."
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus hauled him to his feet. "Practise doesn't make perfect. No person is the same, and you can't expect everyone to react the way you want. Changing your strategy to match them, is where the line between becoming mediocre and an excellent fighter is drawn."
He walked back and held his saber out, guarded, in front of him. "What do you know of Form IV?"
Djinn
Djinn nodded in approval, pulling out another dagger, obviously inefficient in this duel, but his only weapon nonetheless. He shrugged his shoulders a bit, before answering the Prophet.
"I know that those who use it exert unimaginable amounts of power in the force to perform even the most basic of techniques. Plenty of jumping, flipping, and quick attacks are utilized. It fatigues the body very greatly in a short amount of time."
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus nodded, a rudimentary answer. "Ah, but what is fatigue when one has the Force?" He smiled. "Attack me."
Djinn
Djinn nodded, not thinking twice about his actions, as he sprinted forward, driving himself into the air with the force, bringing himself towards Crozeus, crashing his body forward, knife pointed forward, it's image slightly blurred as he let it rain down in a quick torrent of steel.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus saw that there was an advantage to having a knife. As he parried the attacks he recieved several cuts on his arm. He hissedbut relished the pain, drawing it in. He then rolled down low and cut back, hitting Djinn in the back of the knee.
Djinn
Sweeping his legs forward, in a fluid motion that almost looked as if the lightsaber just barely managed to touch his legs, Djinn flipped himself backwards. Now standing before his foe, having only a slight advantage for the moment, he lunged forward, thrusting his blade nearly into Crozeus' shoulder, but just as the blade pierced flesh, the Prophet withdrew himself, moving with lightning like speed to avoid the full blunt of the strike.
Thinking quickly, trying to move with his foe, Djinn stepped forward, dicing forward with his steel blade.
Djinn
((Bump?))
High Prophet Crozeus
((Don't bump threads only a day or two after. I was writing fan fiction, and posting in other roleplays. One thing I assure you with me is if you post, so will I.))
Crozeus leaped backwards, and instead of riposting with his blade he launched Force lightning at his foe. Not very much, as he bore in mind that he was only facing an apprentice. He knew Djinn could absorb or deflect it, it was what happened after Crozeus was interested to see.
Djinn
((I'm not a very patient person. And this duel is, although not completely, taking up my training time with Aequitas.))
Djinn didn't have time to think; holding his blade in a reverse-grip manner, it began to glow a strange greenish tint, before being tossed into the torrents of lightning cascading from Crozeus' fingertips. As he threw the knife, Djinn also jumped into the air, and as the lightning hit the blade, which had been enchanted, to an extent, to absorb the lightning, a dazzling explosion of flame and smoke cloaked the immediate area, just barely covering Djinn's body as he seemingly flew upwards, and towards the Prophet. Pulling out his third and final dagger, Djinn aimed for Crozeus, manipulating his speed with the force, driving forward like some sort of torpedo.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus was taken aback from the reaction, and as such could barely cushion himself against the attack. Djinn crashed into him and the two Sith tumbled to the floor, yet Crozeus soon righted himself and planted a vicious kick right in his face, venting his anger at being taken corps-a-corps.
Djinn
With the rough landing, Djinn barely had noticed the fact that both their weapons hand gone tumbling on the floor, just out of their reach, save for a mad sprint to gain weaponry back once more. Eating the kick, Djinn barely lost his poise, giving Crozeus only a simple, but powerful exhale, as if the air were knocked right out of him, but in a mere moment, he sent forth a devastating elbow, full-force behind his movement, as he nearly sent his whole body towards the Prophet's temple.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus ducked the elbow but was still thrown off course. He righted himself once more and saw the apprentice coming at him. With a grin he extended his arm straight out and ignited his wrist saber, stopping Djinn dead in his tracks.
"It's always good to have more than one saber."
Djinn
"Indeed." Djinn said bluntly, not stopping his course of action. In an instant, he'd pulled Prophet Crozeus' fallen lightsaber to his hand. He was inexperienced, yes, but his personal training had allowed him a basic knowledge of the thing, and he used it to his fullest extent, jumping forward and clashing blade with the Prophet.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus laughed. "Good! Using your initiative, I like that. Be careful, those untrained with the saber are more likely to harm themselves than an opponent."
He feinted around his own blade and cut to arm, cauing Djinn to parry at an awkward angle, and began forcing the blade down, so that the blade Djinn held would cut into his arm if he didn't do something.
Djinn
Djinn brought his dagger back to his hand with the force, wielding a makeshift twin blade combo, and pulled his cortosis woven blade upwards, clashing with all three blades, but stopping his arm from being scarred. With an extra effort, Djinn pushed the blades apart, easily overpowering Crozeus' weaker build. Twirling forward, Djinn seemingly made a small vortex, sending his dagger in first, followed by the lightsaber, towards the Prophet's torso, as he staggered backwards.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus stepped back, nodding his approval. "You use your build and strength, superior to my own, to your advantage. Why have you not considered Shien, or Djem So?"
Djinn
Taking a small break, Djinn paused, standing at the ready, eyes fixed on his opponent. "I considered it, but I see Juyo and Vaapad as an advanced method of the two, being enhanced by the force makes them better, in the very least, to me." His eyes were ablaze, both with adrenaline and a false rage, not entirely angry, just ready to continue the duel.
"I use every little thing to my advantage, every possible thing I can."
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus nodded. That was good. "May I ask if you have heard of something called Sokon?"
Djinn
Djinn thought for a moment, the word's meaning at the tip of his tongue, but he couldn't quite remember exactly what it was, "No, no I haven't." he said calmly, gazing at Crozeus, his icy marbled eyes seemingly peering into the Prophet's soul.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus lowered his blade. "I think it would suit you. Sokon is where one uses the terrain to one's advantage in battle. Users tend to be fast, with good stamina, and combine it with Form II, IV or VII to maximise effectiveness. I think you would be very suited to Sokon."
Djinn
"I'll do my best then, I suppose." Djinn said somewhat happily as he continued to look at the Prophet. With a humble grin, Djinn broke the temporary silence, "So, Prophet, teach me something I don't know." his words were taunting.
High Prophet Crozeus
"I could teach you many things Djinn... the abilities I have discovered while in the Church archives can blow your mind."
Crozeus bent his knees into an en garde position. "But they are off-limits to any non- Church members."
He beckoned once more. "Attack me. But this time, use all the Forms, and Sokon as well, if you can."
Djinn
((I'm assuming we're in a simple dueling chamber, filled with seats, pillars, crates, etc.))
Djinn nodded, before rushing in, his new-found lightsaber tipped inwards, an impaling strike ready to take place, but at the last moment, it rose upwards, with a slight spiral to the outer right, diving towards Crozeus' shoulder. But just as the Prophet went to his defense, Djinn twirled out of his attack, a feint, and with the force hurled a dormant wall-mounted picture towards his foe; an example of Dun Moch, he'd read about earlier this day.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus didn't expect Dun Moch to be used. However it was obvious and slow, and therefore easy to react to. Crozeus casually flung the painting aside, and lunged, point out, at Djinn's exposed chest.
Djinn
Djinn pulled a simple wall-mounted light source to his defense, forced from the wall with utter strength, it barely nicked Crozeus on his weapon-hand, diverting the blade to the side. With a spin and the flutter of his blade, Djinn carved upwards, slicing in towards the Prophet's now exposed torso.
High Prophet Crozeus
"Aha!" Crozeus cried out, jumping away. "Very good. You are learning quickly."
He held his blade out. "Do you wish to continue?"
Djinn
"Only if you have more to teach me." Djinn said with a light chuckle, standing with his still perfect poise despite his fatigue.
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus laughed again. "Djinn, I always have more to teach. It is only how much one is willing to learn."
Djinn
"Well for my Master's sake, I won't drag this duel out forever to learn everything you know." Djinn said with a humble grin as he turned his saber off, letting it's flickering light die off quickly before holding the hilt out to it's rightful owner, Prophet Crozeus. "Thank you for the weapon." He said, his lips parting, showing a smile, "And for the lesson. I greatly appreciate the help, and once my training is done, hopefully I might seek out more teaching from you?"
High Prophet Crozeus
Crozeus took his saber. "Perhaps."
He gestured for Djinn to leave, and when he did, Crozeus followed.
