Darth Bane

Ive been researching ancient sith lords from the past and Banes ability to evade the force bomb always puzzled me....

Until recently when i was looking at the Chiss, some background info for role play...

I was thinking that he could have not been affected by it becasue he was using a ysalamiri. Am i right in thinking that bane would not be affected?
Lord Scourge

From my multiple readings of Jedi vs. Sith, I simply figured he had retreated to a safe distance, out of range of the effects, waited for Kaan to blow everything up, and then came back to decide how to handle the surivivors.

Most references to Ysalimari have indicated that they were unknown before the late Imperial period (OT and after) - not that it would surprise many people for Bane to know a secret 1000 years before it became relatively common knowledge.... but I just don't see any signs of Ysalimari in the story.

At any rate, the fight in the cave, right before the thought bomb detonates, when Githany and Tomcat encounter Bug and a couple of incidentals, only makes sense if Githany is trying to get out of the range of the thought bomb before Kaan sets it off - she then takes off on a speeder bike as the bomb detonates, and doesn't quite get away in time, but she's still alive for a few minutes after Bane returns. So when she says, "The thought bomb could be activated any moment now!. We must finf Bane!", I think she's saying, "We have to get to a minimum safe distance."

That may just be my interpretation, though.

I will trust in your wisdom, i was just trying to find something cryptic to explain it.....
Lord Scourge

I understand - any time all we have are vague reports of important events, we cannot truly say we know what happened. The entire study of history is speculation.

I have some information that may help to acquire the holocron of Darth Bane later this year (translation: when the Darth Bane novels come out, I hope to run that adventure, to explain the sudden increase in knowledge regarding that period). If successful, perhaps that will shed more light on the events at Ruusan.

Thats a good idea...

I hope the books let us know a little more about Lord Hoth, i couldnt find much info on him when i looked....

I'm curious though. Take this quote from Wookiepedia for example:

Quote:
It has been theorized that Bane, during his meditation, discovered the ability to minimize his presence in the Force - a technique used millennia later by Vergere to escape detection by Yammosks during her five decades with the Yuuzhan Vong.

Of course, it would not explain Zannah or Darovit surviving, whereas the distance theory does. However, it seems there would be more survivors if it was a question of distance alone. Have you heard of the minimizing Force presence theory before? Does it have any basis in any of the novels, chronologies, etc. or is it simply some people speculating? Any thoughts?
