Election 2008This thread will discuss the candidates of the upcoming election in America.
I, usually a Democrat, don't like Obama or Hillary's views. They want a total withdrawal from Iraq on Day One, which would destroy the whole area. And so, for the first time I am going with a Republican for President - John McCain.

kIm not partial to any of the candites but I especially agree with Tarna when it comes to Clinton and Obama so Im for Mccain because he is the lesser of three evils

I'm a Strong republican. If it comes down to it I would prefer that we run Huckabee, I think he's a much more winable president. But we'll run Mccain, who is better than obama or clinton. I would rather vote for a really bad republican than a good democrat.

Bill Clinton did a good job in the office, so that could where off on Hillary. But since she would pull out of Iraq, I don't want her to win. Obama won't even salute the American Flag so he's also out of the question. I don't really focus on the Republicans but they seem to be the only option that could be good for our Country. I support Democrats most of the time, until this situation comes into play.

If you don't like Clinton because she's going to pull out how could you say clinton did a good job in office? He wen't into Simolia when it wasn't even our war and then when we recieved the slightest bit of trouble he pulled out. I'm not saying we should have been in Similia but when you make a decision you have to stand by it, commit. Clinton did anything but that.

So are you saying that because of that one thing, he wasn't a good President? You are sorely mistaken, my friend. Atleast he tried to help the people of Simolia. The War in Iraq is one of our biggest problems as a country and if Hillary is going to pull out then Iraq could and will strike again, believe me.

Who cares if he was a wuss? It doesn't amount up to all of the good that he did in office. Economic problems decreased and he helped the country stay intact.

Ok but take a look at his character. He cheated on his wives multiple times, and lied about ti in court. When you enter a court your supposed to tell the truth and nothing but the truth.

Bill Clinton ignored two of history's worst genocides and you call him one of the best presidents ever? He may've balanced the budget, but that's because he had a fairly inactive foreign policy.

I never said that he was one of the best presidents, just one that did a good job. Besides, the US shouldn't get involved into other country affairs if we didn't have a good foreign policy with others.

Preventing genocide and nation-building are different foreign policies. Saving lives and directing them are different things.

I'm a Republican. I think Obama and Hillary are good candidates, but McCain takes the cake. In my opinion, he's definately the best. But that's because I would never support the ideals of Obama or Hillary in a thousand years.

Heck, NO!  The democrats are basically saying, "The first day in office I'll pull every soldier out of there." The Republicans are for it.

The Democrats will change their tune if they take back the White House. The Joint Chiefs and NATO countries will sit down in the first meeting and tell Senator Clinton or Obama just how unrealistic a three-six month exit strategy is.
I am against the war in Iraq, but we need to redirect our forces to Afghanistan, where the momentum and the will to proceed still exists. We've overstayed our welcome in the land of Babylon, there's no denying that.
Aequitas, there are some ideological differences. Republicans tend to be more in line with "Christian" values than the Democrats. Some Republicans want to outlaw same-sex marraige, abortion, and maintain America's ban on drugs. On the other side, some Democrats want to go polar opposite directions and move in the direction of socalized medicine. Democrats go about their family values in different ways than the Republicans. Republicans are a bit more pro-business than Democrats. It is stereotypical to assume all Republicans fit the Bible-thumping, gun-toting anti-abortion homophobe lobbying for lower taxes and statues of Ronald Reagan on every street corner, but it's also wildly inappropriate to assume all Democrats are lefty hippies who love pot and want their children to grow up to be homosexual and devote all their money to the federal government for protection of even small shrubs in the global warming debate.
