Grand Inquisitor Prognie
|
Former TiesThe Grand Inquisitor had summoned his former apprentice to his office. It wasn't a big occasion, it wasn't even a legitimate reason but he had his ways. The man had responded secretly that he would come, it was just going to be a casual visit where his former apprentice wasn't his former apprentice. He had taught him how to be sneaky and devious and though he had wasted his time in the military, he never left the practice.
Prognie had given him temporary access to this area where his office was, he had told him to not come as himself but as the man that had been given proper clearance. It was a precaution but Prognie was good at it.

Malice's dark cloak lightly grazed the cold stone floor beneath him. The flicker of fire which lit the hall was the only recognizable sound at the moment. His stride was one with purpose, but was casual at the same time. He had been given instructions by his former Master to meet at a location Malice had never visited before. The specifics hadn't been revealed to him, but he knew Lord Prognie had his reasons.
The large Sith rounded what was to be the final corner before he reached the door that would lead to the Grand Inquisitor. He had been given the sequence of symbols and number to enter into the custom-made security console to the right of the door. He quickly input the sequence and the light turned from a radiating red to a pulsating green. The door hissed and then slowly slid open revealing a dimlit room. Malice stepped over the threshold and heard the door slide shut behind him, a light hiss assured it was sealed shut.

"Have a seat, take a refreshment if you want they are sitting on the tray near the wall." Prognie said from his desk, he would tell him which wall but he wasn't quite sure himself as he couldn't see where they were placed this time.
Once his former apprentice had finally taken a seat he smiled, pressing a button on his desk it was a pointless button to most but to him it started up a scan of the room for listening and recording devices and if there was a recording or listening device, there would be a small ping. When Prognie heard nothing he simply smiled, "It is interesting to see you here now, while it is a shame you joined the ranks of those inept commanders in the military, it does provide with its advantages."
"How has the military treated you so far? Surely they have given such tactical and strategic genius as yourself a position worth your skill?"

Malice listened to his former Master's offering of beverage, but dismissed the request silently, before taking a seat. As Prognie spoke he thought of the familiarity of the situation. His old Master seated before him, it was hard to think of him in any other way than that, but he did his best to put it past him.
"My genius....." This was something Malice had spent a substantial amount of time studying. He was not at all critical of the position he was currently at. He knew what he was capable of and how he compared to the rest of his peers and superiors for that matter. It wasn't something he'd lose sleep over.
"The military is serving it's purpose for me at the moment. In time, everything will reveal itself and ascension will become inevitable." Malice's words were calm, but purposeful. There was so much happening within the Empire. He could feel the swirl of change just around the corner and by no means would this change be negligible.
"How are things among the Inquisitorious? As you have now taken the reigns of your respective Order, your plans can fall into action once properly organized. But I know this can't come without some measure of uncertainty." Malice did his best to speak casually, while keeping a certain measure of respect for the Sith that had started his path towards greatness.

"The military would do well to serve you, not that ignorant Supreme Commander. But then again, providing the Empire with another weakness is not my choice but that of the Emperor. I am simply his dark hand that smashes that which wishes to rise up. Unless of course those that rise are okay in my book." Prognie had made a few exceptions to what was rising, he had taken liberties in his choices and had even helped others get where they were going. It was to insure that when he rose, those that could fight would fight well.
"But I am glad you have come here today, there are pressing matters I wanted to discuss with you." There was a sense of urgency, mostly because things were finally coming down and the biggest surprises were just around the corner.
"As one of the better military officers in the Empire I feel you have become overlooked, shadowed by incompetence and others who use foolish tactics that might win but cost the Empire resources. And at this point I am fine with it but sooner or later changes will be made and I need to make sure I can turn to certain individuals. Trust is delicate and with someone such as I it's difficult to hold, but I trained you and saw your potential. I hope you hold that same confidence in me as I do in you." Prognie sat, not able to look at him but his face was in Malice's direction and if he had piercing eyes he would be able to see through Malice and perhaps even decipher what makes up his whole.

Malice listened intently to the words of the Dark Lord. It wasn't merely the words he concentrated, but the feeling and emotion that surrounded each sound as it exited Prognie's mouth. Trust was a word that was as difficult to define as any existing word or phrase known to this Galaxy or any other for that matter. It wasn't something Malice would rush in to granting, whether it was his former Master or his closest friend or family member.
"Change is definitely around the corner. Not only within the military, as you know, but throughout our Great Empire. As I am deeply grateful for you guidance and training, trust is not something I can freely give. I am Sith, as are you, and you already know of this truth. Nothing comes without a price." Malice was in no way trying to squeeze anything out of Prognie, he simply knew it foolish to trust another Sith. He sat back in his chair and clasped his hands together in front of him.
"I have already set things in motion on Mandalore. We are ready for whatever looms in the distance. The numbers are mounting and the training progresses. In time, the capabilities of this great world will be substantial......THAT you can count on. As for my support, you have it. Trust, as I've stated, is another matter." With that, the Dark Sith rested his arms on the rests provided once again and awaited the response of the Lord before him.

Prognie shrugged, help was some times better than trust, it meant someone would do what was needed for the betterment and some times their own greed would come into play. Some times Prognie wanted others to play by their own rules, it allowed him to see the greater scope of what they were capable of, it allowed him to plan accordingly for the worst.
"The Mandalorians are a great asset, but what I am curious about their production. What's a necessary asset to any great Empire is industry as well as agriculture. The mandalorians produce what they can eat, but they can also produce machines of power. That type of production will be invaluable soon enough," the dark lord needed the strength and power to defeat this Empire. He knew he couldn't do it now but he needed to cripple it long enough to give him time.

"The Mandalorians as a people are constantly researching and developing new and more efficient means of agriculture. In the past few years alone they've moved forward leaps and bounds in every aspect of agriculture, utilizing already existing and native crops and also integrating new and profitable ones." Malice's excitement grew as he explained what was taking place on Mandalore, though he showed no emotion. Mandalore truly was in progress of establishing itself as an Imperial cornerstone.
"As for industry, that is something that is on it's way up as well. While Mandalore is not what it once was when it comes to creating weapons of destruction and warriors to fear, I, indeed, will remedy that. My foremost concern is creating a substantial military force on Mandalore capable of defending the world as well as venturing out if need be. It is also my desire to construct a substantial ironworks here. Not necessarily to churn out sizable weapons, but rather "essential" weapons."

"The Mandalorians have always been a group that have had to work for their keep, I appreciate their hard work and idolize their strength and it is time the Galaxy reward them for their hard work." Prognie was very interested in the benefit of the Mandalorian line of anything, their production was always of quality--even their soldiers.
"I need you to be more vigilante in the military, Marix's ever growing incompetence means the military needs to trust you, you need to be their leading man. If they turn to you to lead them in those front lines then do so, because it is loyalty that will tip the scales."
Prognie was working hard to secure the loyalty of the alien worlds and a few key worlds that were tired of the Empire's mistreatment and undeliverable expectations.

"The soldiers have my respect and that.....that is why I have their's. I have been through the conflict they go through now." Malice had always been drawn to combat and, as such, he had the utmost respect for anyone who truly devoted themselves to the art. A luke-warm soldier, however, would be 'spit' from his mouth.
"I assure you that with the respect of the Mandalorian warriors, gaining the respect of the Imperial soldiers will be all the more possible. Once they see the might of the Mandalorians, they will cow towards their driving force....their uniting symbol." Malice sat back in his chair once again, settling his arms in his lap.
