Forum URL ContestSiths and Sithetts, Moffs and Moffetts, Lords and Ladies:For the past year now, there has been talk of TDSL moving to a privately hosted domain name. Recently, Will and I have been talking, and the site needs a new name for the transition to a new service. We have checked a few obvious domain names and found them to be already in use, so we need something new and original to be used. Until we reach our quota of 8-12 good ideas you, the users, will be allowed to post your ideas as to what the new domain name shall be. When we reach the quota, Will and I shall pick our "Top Two" and you, the users, shall vote on those two names. The domain name that comes out on the top will be the new URL and address that TDSL will reside upon. You may submit multiple ideas, as long as you keep them related to TDSL in some way. I will be testing the ideas as we go along and cutting down those that are already taken and adding them to the list of invalid names. You may either include a suffix (myfreeforum.com, eternalempire.net, google.org, etc...) or you can just give us the domain name (myfreeforum, eternalempire, google, etc...). So far, the listing of invalid names are as follows:

Just a note: Spaces are not allowed in a domain name. So no, eternal empire.com. We would also like to try to avoid using numbers or underscores in the name (eternal8empire.com eternal_empire.com). But dashes are acceptable (eternal-empire.com). Good luck, and let your imaginations soar. Post your ideas in this thread. This thread's purpose is to select a new URL for the new site. As such, the discussion of URLs not available would be under that purpose. The Grand Inquisitor is just stating his opinion on a URL which, unfortunately, is unavailable.
Although I do agree with him, it would have been a nice one. |

The purpose is to suggest possibilities for new URL's, not discuss them or vote upon them. That comes later. The URL's not available need not be discussed, as they are not available. Yes it would have been nice, but it isn't possible, so why don't we try to focus on something that is possible, instead of what is not. |

We are as much members of this site than you are. We should be allow to critique, compliment of otherwise discuss a member's suggestion. No matter what stage. For example, if someone suggests a URL that is available and well like by a sizeable amount of the Site' active members, what happens if you don't include it in your "Top Two". You will have had no idea that members liked said suggestion. |

I honestly don't care what the domain name would be. But I would be fine with something as simple as tdls.org . We all know what it stands for and it is consistent with our current name.
If its not available, oh well. Not much you can do there. |

Unfortunately, most of the simple and obvious domain names have been taken. While the ".org" variant may be available, I would like to avoid using ".org" if we can.
The ".org" is for organizations and is not the first extension to come to mind for many Internet Surfers, whereas ".com" and ".net" are more common. |

Have to be in the UK to do that. And since Will owns the site in the US and the hosting would be from me in the US, difficult to get the ".co.uk". |

Two names that the Emperor and I have come up with after going over your ideas are:
www.aneternalempire.com www.eternalsithorder.com One of the main reasons we disliked some of the other options present (theeternal being the main one) was the double e "ee". It just didn't look appealing. Another point for dislike was the complexity of the name, or the chaos within it. (more than one "-" and the like). |

I dont suggest using punctuation marks on URL, because straight words are easier to keep them in mind, rather than trying to find locations of those marks on link. It would be okay to use marks for few letter domains, but for long names suggested here, it can cause problems.
My suggestions for now: www.empireofdarkness.com www.thedarkempire.com www.empire.com (I actually tried this but my browser couldnt open it. I dont believe domain is available to buy though) www.theempire.com (its available) www.popeisasithlord.com( Probably best domain ever mentioned  )
