If you have seen Anakin's saber you know it looks absolutely nothing like his son's.

Then it would be accurate. Luke combined Obi-Wan's hilt and Yoda's (lengthened a bit) blade to make a lightsaber that reflected both his mentors.
So bassically, that lightning in Ep. III blinded Palps.

Yes, in ROTJ, Palpatine says "Ah, yes, a Jedi's weapon. Much like your father's. By now you must know your father can never be turned from the dark side. So will it be with you."
Here's the thing - the Emperor may not have been referring to the physical appearance. Luke's lightsaber is fairly similar to Obi-Wan's in appearance, but who knows how many other levels a master of the Force such as Lord Sidious uses to look at an item attuned to a Jedi's power in the Force. Perhaps when Luke focused the crystal, he was experiencing similar conflicted emotions to the ones his father felt when constructing his lightsaber. Perhaps Luke used similar design techniques for the power distribution and energy flow, as Anakin used in his.
...or, maybe he was just drawing a comparison between Luke's lightsaber and Anakin's, as a way of making a parallel to how he saw the two of them following a similar path to the Dark Side of the Force.

Another suggestion is that he just meant it was a lightsaber, like Anakin had a lightsaber.

Perhaps not maybe in looks, but in build? That doesn't make much sense, but there is probably something in the two that looks alike.
