I, JediOkay, I am gonna read this after I finish Champion's of the Force, so I have to ask, when does it take place? Cuz every other book that has a timeline is saying that it comes before Jedi Search, wile other's are saying that it comes after. Which is it?

During. Corran Horn is at the Praxeum in some parts and not in others. The timeline often places it before or after to avoid problems. The most basic and general perspective for a reader is to take it as occuring during the Jedi Academy trilogy.

Is it any good? Cuz a friend of mine said they didn't like it.

I enjoyed it. It's told in first-person (that of Corran Horn), so you have to be able to get into the mindset.

The book also tells you about the way a Jedi is trained and about how one goes about life.

Well, this was one of my favorite books in the SW timeline. Horn is my favorite Jedi and this is about him. It also does not have him as this super power Jedi, either. He has weaknesses that he must overcome (no TK for one).

None of Corran's ancestors have TK, which I love that Valin doesn't in Ruin, either.
But I agree, Corran is one of the best New Republic era Jedi.

I got it from the library as the first ever SW EU book I ever read. I liked it alot. Then I started reading about the Yuzzhan Vong, pleh. Anywho, I Jedi rocks.

What is TK?

Telekinesis.

So, he doesn't have it. What does it matter if he does?

None of his family have had it (they're incredibly weak in it, in fact, not defficent). It's not a bad thing if Corran lacks it, it just means he has a bit more problems in fighting. It comes in handy in dodging flying Senatorial Platforms when Darth Sidious hurls them at you from an elevated position.

Yeah, I wish I could do that.

Well, Corran Horn does not have the ability to move things, jump or fall from high places, or many of the things people most often consider "Jedi/Sith". Well, to make up for it, he has two special powers: Alter Energy and Alter Mind. Alter Energy allows him to absorb blaster shots, explosions, heat, and sometimes lightsaber blades. Then, he can convert that energy into TK or whatever he needs. Alter Mind is my favorite. He can make people see, feel, hear, taste, and smell what he wants them to. It works best on humans, but can work with similar species. So, he can make a foe think he is standing somewhere when in fact, he is behind them with a lightsaber about to stab them. It is a very useful ability, but it is more difficult against strong TK fighters. The thing is, if he can get into your mind, he can make you lose him without even knowing it.
I based my character after his abilities. In fighting, I prefer not to engage with a lightsaber, but rather, overwhelm my enemy with mind tricks while I move up to him and kill him without him knowing I was there. With Force users, it is more difficult because if they figure out what I am doing, they can block it. So, often, I will engage in lightsaber battles, fight a little, then get lost while fighting. They think I am somewhere where I am not so I can kill them. Also, I use energy including enhanced Lightening (if I am shot or have a place to "charge up". I also like creating shields to block blaster fire (that is a legit power that has been used).

Agreed, though I am sad he left in Ruin

Don't worry, he comes back.

I loved that book, Corran was the perfect character to be in it. I really enjoyed the way it was presented and the action that took place. I would recommend it .

Yea, i read that book a while ago, it was really good. It's also where the Jensaarai first come in, correct?
|
Emperor Shadow

Yes. It's an interesting plotline.

Indeed. Though, when I read it, I was in middle school, and i found it in the school library, oddly enough. I mean it only had a little sexual content in it, but schools these days are against any kind of sexual behavior, like simply making out in the hallway. I was suprised to have found it there. Yea know>?

Where was the sexual behavior??
|

When Corran and Mirax do the deed.

I don't remember that part. Oh well.

Lady Ducki

I remember that part...kinda.

Yea, and there was a lot of sexual tension between Corran and Leonia. Yea, it was a good book, but it was more graphic then I thought it would be for a Star Wars book lol . Anyways, it was a great book, and I give it a 5 star rating!
