High Mage Serratus
((I shall duel thee, young Kets. That is, if thou doth think that thou is up to it.))
Jastin
((A Corellian is always up for a challenge. You can start))
High Mage Serratus
((Would anyone care to GM?))
Jastin
We don't have to have a gm do we?
Lord Aequitas
((It's nice to have one.
And I'll do it.
Impress me. ))
Jastin
((Thank you Lord Aequitas.))
High Mage Serratus
Serratus scanned the barren wasteland of Iridonia. A desolate place indeed. The apprentice of Darth Thrax, Jastin Kets, sought a duel and Serratus did have a certain soft-spot for putting apprentices in their place. He acknowledged, amusedly, that it had probably originated with himself being put in his place by Darth Crozeus during his own apprenticeship. He looked around again. Still no sign of Kets.
The High Mage dropped to the ground and started doing push ups. Midway through his thirtieth push-up, he switched to one hand and unclipped his rancor-tooth lightsaber from his belt. He continued to do push-ups, however, rather than just lifting himself up and down, each time he pushed up, he pushed off the ground, transferred his lightsaber to his other hand and then used the free hand to push himself up again.
Kets had better hurry before I start doing something exhaustive to pass the time.
Jastin
Jastin walked up to the sight of Serratus doing one handed push-ups and said " Greetings High Mage, I see you aren't a very patient one." then ignited his lightsaber and heard the snap hiss of the yellow blade. Jastin did a makashi salute followed up by a makashi flourish creating an x with the tip of his saber before going into the opening stance. Jastin watched his opponent get off the ground and waited for Serratus to make the first move.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus sheathed his lightsaber, pushed himself up onto his hands in a perfectly vertical figure and then flipped back into a standing position.
"If you had been more punctual, I would have been more patient. As it stands, I saw no reason to waste time standing around when I could prepare myself for battle."
Serratus drew his lightsaber and entered a Shien stance.
"You may start."
Jastin
Jastin approached his foe made a quick thrust at Serratus but missed then parried two attacks sending sparks flying from the two blades. He then made a second attack lunging at Serratus at the same time pushing the button causing his saber to double in length.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus rolled his eyes at the amateur swordsmanship.
Why do I even bother with apprentices?
Serratus sidestepped and stuck his leg out, sending the lunging Jastin into a tumble.
"Focus, Kets. When you duel as a Sith you must neither brawl nor dance. You must defeat."
Serratus raised his free hand and picked Jastin off the ground with the Force before tossing him a few yards away, where he landed with a heavy thud.
Jastin
Jastin picked himself up returning his saber to it's normal length moving toward serratus he parried another attack then ducked to avoid a slash coming back up in order to parry a third attack. " Defeating your enemy only comes at the end of the battle." Jastin said as he jumped over Serratus and turned around moving the tip of his saber towards his opponent's neck.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus smiled at the lad's naivety and, with a blink of an eye, sent his opponent rocketing into the sky with the Force, before the saber had come within three inches of his neck. As Jastin started falling down again, Serratus grabbed him and slammed him into the ground.
"You fail to grasp the meaning of my words, Kets. For a true master of combat, there is no beginning and end to a battle. There is only victory. A true master of combat does not engage in battle, his victory is inherent and assured. If I wanted to, I could pin you down with the Force and decapitate you without effort. I hold back that I might teach you and that you might learn. Besides, if I killed you, it would be a loss to the Empire. We are always seeking new children of the dark side. However weak they may be. Now, stand, Kets."
Jastin
Jastin standing up readied his lightsaber. He was so mad at Serratus and he remembered his life on Corellia and how he hated being weak. Jastin focused all his anger on using the force to push the High Mage. Serratus didn't fall over as Jastin hoped but he was still knocked back a bit giving Jastin enough time to stab forward with his blade extended to twice it's normal length. The strengthened containment field around the saber meant it wouldn't kill Serratus, but it would still cause him pain. Jastin loved the thought of putting the High Mage in pain.
Lord Aequitas
((Please remember you're in an IC setting, Jastin. You don't call someone who outranks you "arrogant". And I highly doubt you could knock over a Maruader. Push back, yes. Knock over, no.))
Jastin
((Ok I'll edit it but I didn't complain when he interpreted my post wrong and I ended up in the dirt.))
High Mage Serratus
((I didn't misinterpret your post. The difference is that I'm actually powerful enough to do everything I've described so far.))
Serratus deftly parried the thrust and punched Jastin's outstretched elbow, bending it the wrong way before kicking the apprentice in the stomach, knocking him back a couple of feet. Serratus took a couple of steps back, putting a reasonable distance between himself and his opponent and entered the back-handed opening stance of the Dominance Form, Shiak Sai.
Serratus was one of only two living Sith who had mastered the form, along with Dark Lord Alor, although Lord Aequitas and High Prophet Crozeus were both proficient users. Without warning, Serratus launched into an aggressive and powerful offensive against Jastin, repeatedly targetting the boy's neck, hip and now-injured elbow. Serratus continued to hold back in order to prevent dealing serious in jury, even though this ran in direct contradiction to the Shiak Sai philosophy of no-holds-barred offense.
Jastin
((Actually you did, but it doesn't matter now because we're too far past that.)) Jastin switched his lightsaber to his other hand wich he was just as good with. He used the pain to fuel his anger and his ability with the force and jumped far enough away from Serratus so that he wouldn't be sliced up by the High Mage's attacks. Jastin then shot bolts of lightning from his fingertips wich arced towards Serratus.((Is that better?))
High Mage Serratus
((So you transfer your lightsaber to the opposite hand and that somehow prevents me from cutting off your limbs with my lightsaber?))
Jastin
((Do you even know what post I'm talking about? Also when did you even try to cut off my limbs?))
High Mage Serratus
(( | Quote: | | targetting the boy's neck, hip and now-injured elbow |
Unless you blocked the attacks, I would have decapitated you and cut off your leg and arm.))
Jastin
((That makes no sense in itself because while I get what you're saying you couldn't have attacked all my limbs at once. I however will still edit my post.))
High Mage Serratus
((Quite obviously, I attacked them one after the other, repeatedly. If you'd read up on Shiak Sai in the military forum, users target vital areas to gain the advantage.))
Jastin
((Actually the problem was that with attacking them one after the other I was led to believe that you roleplayed me blocking them already.))
High Mage Serratus
((That would be character control, which is against the rules.))
Jastin
((Fine I'm sorry for misinterpreting your post, but I already edited my post so what's the point of this?))
Lord Aequitas
((Would you two stop bickering and get on with it. Jastin edited his post. Any more problems, take it to PM.)
High Mage Serratus
Serratus erected a Force bubble with a wave of his hand and used it to absorb the energy from the lightning. With another wave of his hand, the Force bubble exploded outwards in an unavoidable wave of energy which swept across the surface of the planet and struck Jastin.
Without warning, he ran forward, switching to the orthodox Shiak Sai stance and attacking Jastin once more with a barrage of lightsaber strikes.
Jastin
Jastin moved quickly to parry Serratus' attacks and quickly went back on the offense. Building up all his anger to give him strength he slashed at Serratus with all his might hoping that if the High Mage tried to block it the saber would come out of his hands, but Jastin's saber having a magnatomic adhesion grip would remain safely in his hand.
High Mage Serratus
Jastin's expectations were far too high. Serratus was a Sith Blades Master, an authority on the intricacies of the lightsaber, and an expert lightsaber combatant who had only once been defeated in lightsaber-only combat - during his own apprenticeship. He was not about to let himself be disarmed.
Serratus parried a blow aimed at his head then used the momentum of the strike to turn and slash at Jastin's neck. He stopped just short of killing him.
"Yield."
Jastin
"Yes, I yield master." Jastin replied calmly and used the force to brush the blade away from his neck as he deactivated his own saber and walked away heading towards the bacta tanks to get his arm healed.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus grabbed Jastin with the Force and pulled him back, holding his neck to the blade of his lightsaber. He immobilised Kets completely with the Force so that he would not struggle.
"That was a pathetic duel. You will improve. And the next time an opponent holds a blade to your neck and says "Yield.", you will laugh in that opponent's face and you will blow them away with the Force. The fact that you are an apprentice is the only excuse for allowing yourself to be outplayed so easily. The next time we meet, and I assure you we will, you had better be ready because once you are knighted, I have no reason to hold back. You have been warned."
Serratus sheathed his lightsaber and tossed Jastin back through the air with the Force. As he walked back to the Space Dragon, he addressed Jastin once more.
"You have been dismissed."
The High Mage hopped into the Space Dragon and left the barren surface behind him.
