KOTOR plays?

Not too sure where to put this but Shock Tactics, the local theatre group for my school, have authorised me and some friends to do a play on the first KOTOR, and if it is successful teh second as well. (I have been cast as Malak, and will also help directing it as I know the games the best.)

Thoughts? Ideas? Comments? Feel free to post.
Emperor Shadow

How long is the treatment?
High Commander Vexen

I suggest buying Force FX lightsabers...if your budget can afford it.
Supreme Prophet Praxeum

I WANT TO GO! *pouts*
Yodafueva

Man, that sounds like a lot of fun. Hopefully, it will be good.
High Prophet Crozeus

Yeah, I hope it will be. We actually have about 10 Force FX sabers (in all varieties) and the theatre is really good with effects so it may work quite well (or be a total flop).
Major General Celestial

I wish you luck. I would never pull such off as though I have wrote a few minor storys for theatres and acted a little. Showbiz.... Wink
Supreme Prophet Praxeum

Is this something your production's studio is writing or a real play?
Darth Cruiciatus

Dude, Videotape. Only with a good quality camera. Do It!!!!! I have to see this.
High Prophet Crozeus

Ya I will and post it to youtube or e-mail it to you if you prefer.
Darth Cruiciatus

make sure its a good camera. test it out on some stupid thing and upload to see if it is good. Wink I want to see this thing in awesome form. Wink When will it happen, do you know?

No it's a real play, which will be shown in my school but to anyone who wants to come. We have edited it quite a bit and cut A LOT out but it still follows the game accurately. As to when it happens, should be December ish. Emperor, what do you mean by treatment?
High Prophet Crozeus

Ok, an update...

The group, being the wonderful kind people they are, have agreed to fund us with a grant of £1850. This is great news as it means we can do pretty much everything we wanted - it is more than 3 times our budget. However, this means we have to do a lot more work, so I won't be as active as I used to, as long as the play is still set to show in December. We were discussing delaying it to February, but we are still at odds. If it is shown in Dec, then the next one will be April, if not, October.
Major General Celestial

Send us videos!
High Prophet Crozeus

I will, I will Very Happy

Although it means you will see my Malak voice editor (it sounds ridiculous)  Rolling Eyes
Darth Cruiciatus

test out the camera beforehand and experiment with the best settings for the lightsabers, etc.
High Prophet Crozeus

The thing is, the lightsabers are Force FX, so in order to get the best effects everything has to be DARK. REALLY DARK. So we were thinking about enhancing it in post preduction, and leaving them as they are in the actual plays, (most don't know properly about lightsabers anyway) which would make it far more like a fan fiction (the video).

We also have been experimenting with putting different powered torches actually inside the cheaper lightsabers you get, actually dismantling them in the process. It does work and produces a great effect, but the blades become loose and, of course, there is no sound.

So, people, I need you help and am holding a brainstorm here. What would you do (reminder - we have the money) ???
Mage Superior Odin

Anyway, the sound of FX sabers are not loud enough to hear clearly from a stage. You should add the sound to scenes externally during the play but surely this will prevent on-stage improvisation, so your moves in duels will be pre-defined. During the duels, you can turn off the headlights a little and add smoke to the scene so it can cover the fakeness of FX sabers.  Another possibility is using triangular shaped fabrics attached to rods (to generate light trail effect) I know it sounds stupid but if you can be really fast with those, it would look superb. (Some Kendo talent needed here). The third way is generating the duels on a canvas with projector. You will wield normal rods looking like lightsabers and with light projectors, your shadows will be on canvas back of you. By making the shadows bigger, you can increase the epicnessl of the duels and it will be cheap Razz. By using different color lights projected on player's area on canvas, you can focus on duelling sides. (For example one wields blue ls, other green ls, Blue wielding guy will be illuminated with blue and the other with green)
High Prophet Crozeus

Yeah, the lightsaber thing is quite a problem. Your triangular fabric idea looks good, but we have also been developing a soundtrack for it. We did a pilot of Taris, and it worked well.
High Commander Vexen

This sounds stupid of me...but which ending would you do, and what about the side-quests?

And...what about Revan's voice?
High Prophet Crozeus

We're following the male dark side Revan, light side female exile plotline that is generally accepted. As you know from KOTOR Revan only says things like "Yeah?" and "What?" So we don't see a problem.
High Prophet Crozeus

Oh, and we're only following the main story. We changed it, slightly, in saying that Revan randomly unleashed bursts of Force energy at people on Taris. We had to cut out the Star Map on Manaan. It seemed pointless. So now, we're trying to do the Leviathan scenes - revelations etc, but the girl who plays Bastila is really ill, so we have to delay by two or three weeks.
High Prophet Crozeus

((Triple post!))

Hurray, dress rehearsal on Saturday!

Very daring, Crozeus, very daring.
High Prophet Crozeus

What's theatre without risk? Anyway we found that they do work well when coupled with the sfx we put in.
Durza

Dude, if you record it on tape, tell me, cause I would so like to see that.
High Mage Serratus

Check the post date there, Durza. This was months ago. The play has come and gone. Crozeus played Malak.
Durza

Bummer.
High Prophet Crozeus

It went down a treat with the audience, actually. There are videos but I've no idea how to get them onto the internet.

Should have handed out flyers for the site Razz
Durza

Well, if you ever figure out how, just tell me.
Major General Celestial

Surely you have pictures though?
High Prophet Crozeus

We didn't allow flash photography.

There are some back stage ones... but well, I have yet to upload a pic of me to the site and I don't plan to start with one of those Razz
Mage Superior Odin

Yes, you still plan to post a pic to site... since last year Very Happy
Major General Celestial

You forget it's Crozeus, though. Very Happy
High Prophet Crozeus

To be fair, Matt, Will, Chris and Kevin all know what I look like.
Mage Superior Odin

I know as well.  Very Happy Its just weird of you not posting even a single pic of yourself here.
High Prophet Crozeus

You stalker!  Shocked

lol the only reason really is that I can't be bothered Very Happy
Major General Celestial

I can't believe it, not showing me of all people. Confused
High Prophet Crozeus

All you have to do is add me on facebook Razz
Major General Celestial

I am against all Facebooks. I don't know why; it just gives me something to hate I geuss.
Durza

You wouldn't mind if I looked you up, and added you?
