Mainerd was preparing to leave Coruscant. He had remained there for far too long. Trying to help himself wasn’t getting anywhere; he needed a master to instruct him in the ways of the Dark Side better than himself. Several years of honing his abilities and practicing with a now destroyed vibro-sword had not been enough to mold him into the fighting machine he wished to become. Here on Coruscant, the Jedi would sense his growing presence of power and try to stop him. He had to leave now to find a Sith who could adequately train him.
Working on the engines of his stolen TIE Defender, he began to sense something coming up to the top of the skyscraper that he was working on. Smiling slightly, he returned to fixing his engines. They had been damaged in his last flight after he stole the ship. The guards from the shipyard had chased him down, landing a hit on the starboard engine that had already had some trouble. Evading them and landing it on top of the building he was working on now, he had fixed it up, readying it for his flight off planet. He had stolen parts and repaired most of it. Now, the engines were the only thing seperating him from the skies.
The presence of the man coming up to the top was growing greater. Continuing his work, fe felt the man stop.
"Shouldn’t you be out stopping warlords and defending the peace?" Mainerd asked, finishing up on the engine.
"I’m here to take you in."
"If it’s taking this TIE that you’re arresting me for, you’re wasting your time. I think that the security force could do that. Why are you here?"
"I know your secret... Sith." Emphasising the word Sith, the Jedi began to pace slightly.
"Ah," said Mainerd, welding the engine to the craft for better support. "So you’ve picked up on my scent."
"The Jedi are not blind, and your powers are not strong enough for you to hide from us."
"No," Mainerd said, dropping his tool and turning around. It was not a question, but a statement. "No they’re not."
"I’m not going to let you leave Coruscant."
"So you’re going to stop me, huh? Isn’t that against the Jedi way? Killing? Murder?"
"I do not intend to kill you, but I will do what I can to stop a Sith from learning form a master to fight against us."
"Don’t intend to kill me?" He walked forward. "That’s the only way I’m going in. I’m either going to die or escape. I’m not going to run from you and I’m not going to give up."
The Jedi shifted his hand to his lightsaber, taking it off his belt.
"This is your last chance, Darksider."
"No," said Mainerd, grinning. "It’s yours."
Pulling out his pistol, he fired a shot at the Jedi, but he blocked it and used the Force to lift Mainerd in the air, then pushed him hard back into the Defender. Getting up quickly, he fired another shot, but the Jedi flipped over it. Seizing the oppurtinity, Mainerd used the Force to push the Jedi backwards while he was in midair.
Skidding across the ground, the Jedi hit the barrier that seperated the top of the skyscraper to the city below. Rising the Jedi Force Pushed Mainerd, but he used the Force to block it. With the Jedi continuing his barrage of the Force, Mainerd knew he was unable to defend it. Letting go, he allowed himself to be pushed backwards. Flipping over his ship, he continued his flight until he reached the opposite edge of the building. Grabbing on to it, he hoisted himself up and flipped over his ship. The Jedi had his saber out at the ready and Mainerd wished that he hadn’t had to sacrifice his vibro-blade to escape the shipyards. The Jedi swung the saber, but Mainerd bent backwards, using the Force to push the Jedi away. This succeded, and the Jedi flew backwards, falling off the edge.
Looking over to see if he was dead, he saw that the Jedi had grabbed on to a loose piece of metal and was flipping over the edge. Landing a clean kick on Mainerd’s jaw, he landed on the top of the building and called on the Force to bring Mainerd’s DL-44 to him.
"This is it, Darksider," he said pointing the blaster at his head and arching his lightsaber up towards his own head in a defensive position. "You can’t win. Surrender."
"No," Mainerd replied. "No, this isn’t over." In one quick motion, he Force Pulled his blaster rifle towards him, sweeping the Jedi off of his feet. As he brought the rifle towards him, he unleashed a volley of shots at the Jedi, keeping him in a blocking fury.
The Jedi dropped the pistol to block better and Mainerd fired at his feet then his head, sweeping the gun up and down to keep the Jedi on the defensive. The Jedi was running out of options. He paced backwards carefully, not wanting to walk off the edge of the building. He didn’t want to sacrifice concentration on blocking, but he needed to send Mainerd back. Doing the only thing he really could, he flipped high up into the air, hoping to land at Mainerd’s side at swipe the killing blow.
This did not happen, for when the Jedi flipped, Mainerd fired at his body and at the angle the Jedi was, he could not move himself to block in time and he was shot and fell on top of the TIE, then he bounced off and hit the floor. Raising his saber to attack with what strenght he had left, he had a second thought and threw it off the building. The Jedi knew he was going to die and he did not want Mainerd to get a weapon like a lightsaber. Mainerd shot the Jedi in the head, killing him, then boarded his craft.
Making a few final preperations, he decided it was best to simply leave the planet and finish what little work he had left to do on another planet.

As with the copy on TSC, I like it. I feel that more people should come out with detailed, novel style stories like this one instead of chaotic, disjointed stories like some I see on other websites.
