Emperor Shadow
I love Tim Zahn. Mara Jade gets to kick Rebel butt!
Also, this was announced months ago. The release of the cover art is new.

Emperor Shadow
Yes she does.

Well, I think this book is going to be a complete failure. I will read it of course, but its set in an era with no recent stories to draw on, and one where we are smack bang in the middle of the movies.
The PT books worked fine, because they were released as the movies came out, but this one, where we already know what happens in the next movies, and books, won't work.
Another problem is Tim will be so constricted by the time period, and all the other pre-existing stories, that this is going to be a very small story.
Emperor Shadow
I think it will be brilliant. I think Zahn will pull another one from his *** and deliver a stunning tale of inner-conflict by an indoctrinated Mara Jade, a bothersome Han Solo, a confused Luke Skywalker and an over-worked Leia.
Trivas
I agree with Supreme Prophet Shadow. Zhan has always written good books and has a wonderful way of connecting all the characters (look at the becon caller Luke found on Dagobah in the Thrawn Trilogy and how it was linked to Car'das in the Hand of Thrawn Duology).
He will do fine and this will be his chance to show more about the darker areas of his favorite character, Mara Jade. Also, I expect at least one scene or mention of my favorite character, Thrawn.
Darth Acheron
Well, I dunno. I'll see how it goes, but I'm not going to buy this in hardback.
Emperor Shadow
Aww, but they're shiny. It's always worth having another shiny hardcover.
Darth Acheron
Well, I swore I would never buy another hard cover, because they're about three times the cost, plus the paper back has bonus material, but I caved in with Betrayal, and have made my mind up. If its part of a series that will have later books released in paper back before it reaches paper back itself, I will buy it in HC, other wise, like Dark Lord and Outbound Flight, it can wait.
Trivas
That is what I am doing now. After buying 14 hardbacks, I decided to let it rest a little. I am still waiting for Dark Lord to come out and waited for all the Clone Wars hardbacks to come out except one (Jedi Trial) that I bought in the airport before going on a very long trip with a three hour layover.
Darth Acheron
Jedi Trial was the worst, by miles, CLone Wars book, . My mum got it for me for my birthday, because we had come up with little else that I wanted. I now have it in paper back, that at least looks neat, if it contributes little else to the SW timeline.
