NFL Season Predictions [2009]I thought this might be fun if we had enough people that participated. Starting with Monday Night Football, my predictions are:Raiders vs Chargers Bills vs Patriots I will try to keep score and at the end of each week, I will tally up everyone's scores. At the end of the regular season, we will see who had the highest score. Then, we will have the Playoff and Superbowl predictions. Good luck! |

You don't really want to get into this. But I'll just say a few things. The Dolphins cheated when they went undefeated. Every other team was doing the same thing as the Patriots, and now all the coaches hate Mangini because he blew the whistle and made the NFL look more closely at ALL teams recording habits. I would gladly be Belichick's friend. He is one of the greatest minds to ever coach football. And I quote "Belichick had admitted to taping signals dating back to 2000 was reported by ESPN on September 14, 2007. After meeting with Goodell on February 13, 2008, Specter said that Goodell told him that Belichick had been engaged in the practice since he became head coach of the Patriots in 2000. Belichick said he believed he was operating within the rules as long as the tape was not used during the same game. Several other head coaches anonymously agreed with Belichick's statement." It was hardly cheating. There isn't enough time in a game to analyze the tapes, get that information to the coaches and staff, and then use it to an advantage during the game. It was mainly used for future reference, and most teams changed signals every half, or even quarter to prevent things like this from happening. Football is a business and a sport, where every advantage is taken to win. Notice that even after the Patriots lost the tapes, were closely watched for more taping (which didn't happen) and without integral team members, they still went 16-0 that year, and made it to the superbowl. Just saying. If we were cheating beforehand, you think our gameplay would have been affected after we were "caught". |

Notice how I said Superbowl. If I watched Raiders games, I'd never see the Superbowl. And there were some pretty bad calls at the Pat's game. 2 Roughing the Passer that were not even close. One was a guy flying through the air when the QB threw the ball. The other was a legit tackle. | ||

Notice how the Tuck Rule was reviewed by the NFL Committee afterwards and not revised. Notice how it has been set as precedence ever since and has been called for teams playing the Patriots since that game, several times in fact (I'd know, I was watching the games and had to remind people how the tuck rule saved us in 2001).
Notice how the people calling the games are human. They are no better than you or I. I bet you would have had trouble making that call if you were there. 3 of the Ref's right off the bat said they didn't see the play because they were focused elsewhere. And I quote "In 2004 John Fetkovich, an emeritus professor of physics at Carnegie Mellon University, analyzed the NFL Films clip of the play. He came to the conclusion, based on the trajectory of the bounced ball and conservation of momentum, that the ball must have bounced off of Tatum, who was running upfield at the time, rather than Fuqua, who was running across and down the field. Fetkovich also performed experiments by throwing a football against a brick wall at a velocity greater than 60 feet per second, twice the speed that Fetkovich calculated that Bradshaw's pass was traveling when it reached Tatum and Fuqua. Fetkovitch achieved a maximum rebound of 10 feet when the ball hit point first, and 15 feet when the ball hit belly first, both less than the 24 feet that the ball actually rebounded during the play. Timothy Gay, a physics professor and a longtime fan of the Raiders, cited Fetkovich's work with approval in his book The Physics of Football, and concluded that "the referees made the right call in the Immaculate Reception." I'm pretty sure that if you looked with an unbiased eye, you'd find plenty of bogus-calls made in favor of the Raiders. |

Its getting annoying, really. I mean, maybe one game you can say it, if there was a really bad call. But every game in the history of the Raiders, you just call out foul. Its quite boring. |

A cornerback had his hand on a wide receiver's shoulder for HALF a second and they called pass interference. Then Tom Cable yelled and a ref called unsportsmanlike conduct on him. Hmm, that's weird, especially considering the fact that Bill Cowher used to scream in the ref's face and didn't get it called on him. |
