Emperor Shadow

Reaverath El'Erandur

Welcome to your training. You shall receive instruction in varied aspects, mostly to be determined by you. I require a list of your strengths and weaknesses as you view them. I require a specific list of your interests.

This shall be your only time during training to ask me personal questions, make the most of it if you so choose.
Reaves

My strengths include Diplomacy, Espionage, Civil and Criminal Justice, Counter-intelligence, torture and interrogation. My weaknesses include Naval Tactics, Army Tactics, and shoty term strategy. Allow me to say that if you put me in charge of a battle as a commander, know I'm completely hopeless. My Interests are many, which mainly include as I've stated before, Inquisitor work. Diplomacy, Espionage, and Justice.
Emperor Shadow

*This is fictional and does not reflect any known case*

Prophet Scyth has been charged with passing secrets along to known anarchists, several of which our Inquisitors know led to terrorist attacks less than one year after their trade to the group for credits and other favors. Scyth has a long history in the Empire and many friends, including the well-known Zend Family crime syndicates [See list of Pure Blood Human Families in "Character Profiles"].

Using knowledge of Imperial Law, as per a document in the Church of the Dark Side known as "Crimes Against the Church," provide a detailed analysis as to the capture and trial of this individual. Assuming you are an Inquisitor, transition into the role as Lord Legate and prepare a list of charges and their relevance. Take into account social and status factors when passing judgment as well.

I shall critique your work based on logical preperation and research.
Reaves

You truly are the first Master I've had who has truly given me a question that I've needed to think about.

What Scyth has done was sell secrets. There is no proof he had the intention of being the catalyst of those attacks. He is not a spy, just a traitor. There is no need for him to be arrested, however an Inquisitor should be posted to follow him until he has been convicted. The first step that would be taken is to take all of the evidence to the Supreme Prophet. Scyth is a prophet, and will be tried accordingly to the doctrine that applies to the church. The only charge I believe would stick would be espionage, for transmitting information. In three days the trial would commence, and during the pre-trial period Scythe may choose Consul from prophets and draft his defense. The doctrine also states that the High and Supreme Prophet's are not suitable consul. Then the trial shall proceed with the High Prophet presiding. After the trial the High Prophet would make a ruling. In this case I find that what he had done is undeniable and he will be convicted, whence he will have six days to appeal and get new consul, and draft a new defense. Which I believe will do him little good. The charges include Espionage alone, and the only punishment is expulsion.

That was research and anaylsis. Let me explain some of my own logic behind it. There was no list of charges, only a single one. From what you've told me I do not think it was intended to harm the Empire at the time. No other charge could stick that I could find. I also purposefully did not take into account his history or friends. However I researched the Zend family anyway and say as you've said, a crime syndicate. Why did I exclude this information? It would be a crime unto itself to lessen his charges or punishment due to outside influences. No one is above the law, and we need to remember that. An Inquisitor,(In my experiences), must retain an objective and neutral mind. That means no favors, no expections, and no favoritism. He would be convicted and expelled from the Church. I see no other charges, nor do I see why we should take into account Social Status.
Emperor Shadow

Your logic is sound. But assume for one moment that the information Scyth transmitted was directly intended to undermine the Empire. How might your analysis be changed?
Reaves

I look more carefully, and I see that I made an error. My analysis is not changed. As an Inquisitor my mindset is to take traitors out. I see no worse punishment rather than expulsion, much to my dismay. I would not risk the case by adding on extra charges. I like things to be clean and simple. Perhaps if there was a punishment of execution, or imprisonment would I change my anaylsis.

I am not a man for flowery words, or in this case long lists of charges against the accused. Let he get what he deserves, in the end making extra charges would not change the outcome. That is me however, I'm sure there are others who would love to press more and more charges. Simplicity gives him no room to wriggle out.
Emperor Shadow

Sufficent. So your endgame is simply deliverance of what is coming anyway.

And what would you tell the Court if the Zend Family retailiated by withholding a resource vital to the Empire's trade routes because of your refusal to take their influence into consideration?
Reaves

I would tell the Court that there is no other alternative since no other punishment is acceptable. I would tell them to stop this trial, to drop it, or to rig it in any way would be an Obstruction of Justice. If we give into petty corruption or bribery then we no longer function.
Emperor Shadow

Please outline the top ten qualities you believe essential to the Sith.
Reaves

In no particular order.

Loyalty-A Sith must be ready to die for their Emperor, or complete any task he asks without objection.

Motivation-The desire to make our Empire a better place. The desire and force which drives us in battle.

Intelligence-A Sith who can not think on their feet, will find themselves useless in battle.

Objective Mindset-A sith must be able to think objectively and without emotion clouding his/her better judgement.

Skill-We need trained Sith to uphold the Empire in all that we do. Without skill, the Sith have no use for you.

Versatility-We can not always rely on other's strengths. We must drive to improve ourselves at everything we possibly can. If you are flexible in what you can do, you can better serve the Empire.

Leadership-A Sith must be able to lead when it is time to step up to the plate. When the needs arises, this is necessary.

Dedication-A Sith must be prepared to sacrifice everything for the Empire.

Strength-Whether it is physical or mental, strength is what gets things done. Without it, you are useless in our Empire.

Lack of Remorse-There are times when we must show no hesitation when defending the Empire. However there are also times when regretting killing people who have harmed our Empire is just as bad as hesitation. A Sith must do anything it takes to serve the Empire.
Emperor Shadow

And you do not mention corruption, evil or any of the general sterotypes. Interesting.

You shall now pick ten Sith or Dark Side Force-users and attribute them to those qualities. Provide examples of how they best illuminated that quality.
Reaves

Emperor Shadow, I am neither a conventional nor Orthodox Sith. It is why I left those qualities out, as in my view they are not essential.

Loyalty-Darth Talon-She killed her former master at the command of her leader. She did so without hesitation, or second thought.

Motivation-Naga Sadow-He would stop at nothing to achieve what he wanted. He was motivated to the point where he would kill all in his path.

Intelligence-Darth Sidious-Cunning and manipulative, he achieved what all other Sith could not. This took extreme planning and intelligence on his part.

Objective Mindset-Darth Bane-He thought without letting his emotions or anything else cloud his judgment. He was without Bias, and even killed the women he loved since she was loyal to another.

Skill-Tulak Hord-His skill with a lightsaber is unmatched. He perfected and honed this skill. He did so to the point where he has been recognized as the greatest Lightsaber master to date.

Versatility-Darth Kaan-As weak as he was, he was versatile in all of his roles. He was a strategist, commander, warrior among other things. Perhaps had he been more capable, he could’ve gotten somewhere.

Leadership-Darth Revan- He had charisma, and inspired his followers to fight with him until the death.

Dedication-Cronal-His dedication to Emperor Palpatine was exceptional. He never faltered, even when prophecy dictated against him, and when he was named a traitor.

Strength-Darth Sion-Pain strengthened him to the point where he could not be killed conventionally. He was truly a strong Sith.

Lack of Remorse-Darth Nihilus-To be able to destroy an entire planet without any regrets at all. To truly have no feelings at all, truly exemplifies this trait.
Emperor Shadow

I am crafting a real-time mediation situation between two opposing parties who shall be played by myself and another high-ranking Sith. I beg your patience, we will be ready to commence shortly.
Reaves

Patience is something I have plenty of. Take your time, I'm always here and have no intention of going anywhere.
Emperor Shadow

All right, I feel like assigning a small challenge. Your next mission is to choose a high-ranking Sith from this Empire [i.e., myself, Lady Ducki, Lord Acrimonus, Lord Prognie, Lord Praxeum, etc.] and provide a biography in your own format/wording.

You are to then contact that person and extend an invitation to duel as part of your practical experience.
