Shatterpoint

I just bought that book today. So far, it's really good.
Anakin

Yeah its pretty good. Right now im trying to read the Yuzhann Vong Books or whatever, im a little into it.
Darth Acheron

Shatterpoint was great! It is a very hardcore military book though, but was what gave me hope when I saw Matthew Stover as being slated to write ROTS.
Saber

I'm almost done with Shatterpoint, it's really sweet. Very Happy Only thing is when I read Kar Vastor I keep saying Vader instead of Vastor, lol.
Darth Acheron

Lol, Very Happy. I do that with some names, like, on here, its hjard to go into the missions forum, as Mission looks like minious, and so they all look like their for me. Very HappyVery Happy
Saber

Lol! Funny. Very Happy It takes me forever to start a book because usually I don't start to really read it every day for a long while until like page 150, so it took me forever to get this far, lol.
Darth Acheron

Thats like with me. I only start to concentrate on books at about p.g 100 or 200, though, I am now reading a books (The Dark Mirror) which is 720 pages! It'll take me forever to get into it!! Sad
Dork of Mordork

So far I like Dark Lord the most. I finished that one in a week.
Tontie

i can't wait untill i get this book it's next on my list!
Emperor Shadow

I read it about three months ago and was fairly impressed. It took about two days (pretty long for me) but I liked it.
Lethe

So far I've heard that it's a good book to read so I'm thinking about getting it.
Emperor Shadow

It helps establish Windu's character.
Yodafueva

I didn't like Shatterpoint much. I prefered Yoda:Dark Rendevous
Darth Acheron

I have to do an oral presentation in English on a book containing war themese and insights on the Human Soul, and I'm doing this book!

You've obviously more confidence than I had at high school. By the time I'd reached the "it's what I like, so take me or leave me as I am attitude" I was only doing Literature, not core English, and my teacher considered Star Wars to be a sad pop-cultre fad...
Darth Acheron

Well, I've been of that attitude nearly all my life, so people are kind of used to it. Very Happy

i'm hoping by using such a powerful piece of SW literature, I can win my friends/teacher over, Very Happy. Of course, I also noticed the link between Lord of the Flies, my set text, and this, so it'll be good. Very Happy
Lord Divious

This was definitly one of my favorite Pt book. I loved how the author went into Maces mind and with his struggles Very Happy
Emperor Shadow

Blah. It was good but I didn't love it that much... except Depa.
Darth Acheron

I thought it was really good, and now, going back over it really closely, it was exquisitely written, and may well be the best written SW book of all time.

The characters seem so real, and the situations so believeable, the foreshadowing, and metaphors and links to the real world are astounding in their depth.
Darth Acheron

Ah, here it is. I've been trying to convince myself I didn't imagine the NJO reference, even though no one else remembered it:

Quote:
In my dreams here, I have seen the destruction of the Jedi. The death of the Republic. I have seen the Jedi Temple in ruins, the Senate smashed, and Coruscant itself shattered by orbital bombardment from immense ships of impossible design. I have seen Coruscant, the seat of galactic culture, become a jungle far more hostile than any on Haruun Kal.

I have seen the end of civilisation. - Shatterpoint, p.g 259 lns 15-21
Emperor Shadow

Yeah. I could have told you that.
Darth Acheron

Just making sure, Very Happy, and now its here for all to see. Plus, it may be seen as a prophecy, for the prophets to study, as it came to Mace in a dream, yet he seems to have little prophetic power.
Emperor Shadow

I read it like six months ago so correct me if I'm wrong (I'm only about twelve meters from my bookcase but am too lazy to get it) but didn't it come in his last journal entry? If it was, then yes: it's a prophecy.
Darth Acheron

No, and thats the thing. Whenever I tried to find it, I looked at his last entery, but trhats about his prophecy about Anakin's fall to the Dakr and the Jedi's extermination, but how that as long as Anakin lives on, the Jedi have hope.
Emperor Shadow

Ah, yes. Because I know he made a prophecy about the Vong and then about Anakin. I knew Anakin was like the last page but I wasn't sure if the Vong were coupled with that or not.
Darth Acheron

Well yeah, since I re-read it for English, I picked it up, along with the Lannik reference on page 89.
Emperor Shadow

Mmmkay then.
Darth Acheron

Also in the short story Equipment, there is a foreshadowing of the Clone Rebellion against the Jedi.
