The SimarillionI just finished reading this masterpeice and even though Tolkien's masterpeice is of coures Lord of the Rings, I personally think this is his best work, The amazing detail of the pre history of Middle Earth, the elves, Sauron everybody he didnt leave a thing out it was absoulutley AMAZING!

Yeah the Silmarillion is good, and I never knew Sauron was a servant until I read that. I think he was smarter than his master though, and more clever because he outlived him by a LOT

I agree. I thought the Silmarillion was way better than the Lord of the Rings Triology and the LOTR Triologyis one of my favorite books of all time.

LotR [Hobbit and Trilogy] will always hold the spot as my favourite Tolkien work. It was the first and the "gateway book" into Tolkien literature...

I agree that it was the gateway book, but i think that the Silmarillion gave us an interesting account of the history of the Elves.
