High Mage Serratus
((Duly noted. As your first task, write a 500-word post describing your arrival at the Sith Temple on Hoth, my homeworld. Describe your thoughts, feelings, impressions, the scenery etc. but nothing else, do not begin your own training and do not feature me in your post.))
Tylerr Durden
((I was only able to write 470 words now, but I can wite some more, if needed))
Tylerr Durden was on his Bes'uliik fighter, bound for Hoth. He had been told to head to a Sith temple on that remote outer rim planet. He had heard of this planet before, supposedly a frozen, deserted wasteland, devoid of life, save for a few native species. While he exited hyperspace he saw the planet and its three moons. Tylerr engaged the ship’s sublight engines and prepared to enter Hoth’s atmosphere. As he did, he took the time to observe the landscape from above. It mostly consisted of plains, with a few mountain ranges, and also a few impact craters caused by asteroids. He had never seen snow before, having lived most of his life on Mandalore, a planet which mostly consisted of rainforests and deserts, so this was a new experience for him. He used the ship’s scanners to look for the temple, and selected a location relatively near it to touch down. He had only brought his suit of mandalorian armour to protect himself from the cold, and he hoped it was enough. As he gradually got closer to the surface of Hoth, he began to make out the forms of some native creatures. He looked out the ship’s window and saw a few Tauntauns and one or two Wampas hunting them across the snowy surface of the planet.
The ship landed softly on a snowy hill near the Sith Temple. From the ground, the landscape looked even more spectacular than from above. Tylerr opened the ship’s canopy. Even through his mandalorian armor, he could still feel the unforgiving freezing temperatures of the ice planet. He spotted a Tauntaun in the distance and shot it with his sniper rifle. Then, he made his way to it, and cut some of its hide in order to make a jacket of sorts. He put the animal’s skin over his armor in order to better preserve the heat. He then made his way back to the ship, which rested atop a hill, from where he could better observe the snowy landscape. He was fascinated by the amount of snow gathered on the same planet. From there, he also saw several ice covered hills, a few fissures in the ice and some caves. He started moving in the temple’s direction as the wind started picking up speed and the darkness of the night began to fall. He walked for half an hour and he finally was able to see it. The temple itself was an imponent structure built on the ice, which contrasted with the frosted landscape. He arrived at the temple by sundown, as the temperatures started to drop even further, threatening to freeze him if he stayed outside much longer. Nervous, yet confident, he moved towards the massive doors and opened them. He then made his way inside and waited…
High Mage Serratus
((It is adequate, but try to paragraph more to make it more readable.))
Serratus saw him as he entered. Tylerr Durden, his new apprentice. His other apprentices had all failed, Plasma lay at the bottom of a chasm in Tatooine, or more likely in the faeces of a canyon krayt dragon by now. Sadow had been killed while trying to retrieve a beskad lightsaber on Dxun, when Serratus had detected a lack of faith in being able to cross a room disguised as outer space, the High Mage had cut him down where he stood. Fien had been an insolent brat but Serratus had not killed him, for the simple reason he was a relative of Darth Thrax, and Prophet Odin had taken the boy up. But Serratus was not going to accept Tylerr's failure. Serratus would not kill him or get rid of him. If this particular apprentice failed then Serratus would do everything in his power to deny him a death that he would crave and beg for.
Serratus leapt from the shadowy alcove where he had been secretly observing his new apprentice. Before his apprentice could react, Serratus tore the tauntaun skin and armour from the boy's body, detached his weaponry from them and crushed them with the Force before tossing them aside. He tossed a tauntaun-skin outfit at Tylerr. It would only cover him from above the knee to the neck and had no sleeves and more than a few gaps. It was rough and primitive and Serratus expected him to wear nothing but it.
"Boy, you are no longer Mandalorian and you will not be wearing that armour while you are under my tutelage. But you are not a Sith yet either and you shall wear not the trappings of a Sith. Your are my apprentice and I now proclaim you my hunter. I grew up as a hunter and you shall wear nothing more or less than I wore for 13 years, you shall wear the skin of a tauntaun. And tomorrow, you will learn how to hunt."
While his apprentice clothed himself, Serratus examined the lad's weaponry.
"This is a fine lightsaber. But you will not be using it for now."
He stowed the lightsaber away inside his cloak and examined the knife and the sniper rifle.
"The knife is similar to the one I used growing up. Here, keep it."
He tossed the knife back to his now fully-clothed apprentice before examining the sniper rifle.
"This is too good for you."
He crushed it with the Force and extracted an E-11 blaster from his cloak.
"You will use this."
Serratus handed the blaster to his apprentice and stood back to survey him.
"Looks about right to me. Rest for now boy. Your training will begin in the morning. The apprentice quarters are that way."
He pointed towards a doorway behind him. Before his apprentice could even speak, Serratus swept from the hall towards the staff quarters. The Hoth Sith Temple held only four Sith who attended to it and there were plenty of spare beds in which Serratus himself could rest.
Tylerr Durden
Tylerr dressed himself in the tauntaun skin clothing his master had handed him. His master had also given him an E-11 blaster, which he examined and then stored, along with his knife. He then went to the apprentice quarters, where he would rest for the night. He memorized the way to the apprentice quarters, since he would be staying there for a while. He was anxious to begin his training and was only able to sleep for a couple of hours that night, eagerly waiting to prove his worth.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus strolled in to his apprentice's room early next morning and tossed him out of bed with the Force. Once again deciding not to await any response from his apprentice, Serratus tossed him a piece of undercooked tauntaun meat.
"Eat up. You'll be surviving on this for the foreseeable future, so you'd better get used to it. When you're done, meet me in the Temple's dojo."
Serratus swept from the room, Arbiter's gem gleaming in the half-light.
Tylerr Durden
Tylerr got up from the floor after being tossed out of the bed, rubbing his head, which he had hit on the wall. Tylerr ate the meat very quickly, since he hadn't eat anything in he days before, and went to meet the High Mage at the dojo.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus watched impatiently as his apprentice strolled into the dojo. Serratus was dressed not in his normal attire but instead in a robe of shell spider silk, dyed pale white. To those familiar with Serratus, they would not only this oddity but also the complete absence of weaponry. When Tylerr entered the room, Serratus removed his knife and blaster with the Force.
"Tylerr, a true hunter can kill not only with a weapon or the Force, but also with his bare hands. Mages are required to be able to survive in extreme conditions with minimal food or water and no weapons, for example. In my youth, I wrestled and defeat full-grown Wampa to earn my share of our catch. You won't be able to do the same it is safe to say but the size and frequency of your meals will depend on how well you do against me in unarmed combat. Ready yourself, child."
Tylerr Durden
Tylerr got ready to fight his master. He had gotten training in Teräs Käsi throughout his childhood, although he had always prefered the blaster over hand-to-hand fighting. He got in a basic Teräs Käsi stance and got ready for combat.
"I am ready, master." Tylerr said, somewhat confidently.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus chuckled.
"No one is ever ready for me."
Serratus dashed the distance between them with terrifying speed, honed from years of hunting animal and sentient prey, increased by his training in the Jedi and Sith and amplified extremely to first accustoming himself to running max speed in his armour prison, then losing it.
Serratus put all his strength into a stomach punch that would put Tylerr in his place and show him who was the master and who was the apprentice. The fist connected hard, just short of causing him internal damage. Serratus followed swiftly by a kick to the head.
"I am twice your age and just your size boy, but until the day I die I will always be bigger than you. My muscles, my intelligence and my skill outrank you. The only way you can overcome them is to learn them. And you will learn them first hand. Now stand and fight like a man!"
Tylerr Durden
Tylerr staggered backwards with the punch and fell to the ground with the kick to the head. He promptly got back up, having been caught off guard with the speed of his opponent. Still, he wasn't going down that easy. Tylerr ran up to his opponent and attempted a jump kick to the chest, which he would follow up with a leg sweep.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus caught the kick and tossed Tylerr against the back wall of the dojo.
"Stop fighting like a warrior, like a Mandalorian! You are not warrior, you are a hunter, fight like one! Fight for you share or I will deny it to you!"
Tylerr Durden
Tylerr got up with slightly more difficulty than before, due to having just crashed into a wall. He went up to his opponent and threw a punch aimed at the gut, and then put all his strength behind a second punch, also aimed at the stomach.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus grabbed both fists, rolled his eyes and then kicked Tylerr in the stomach, sending him flying backwards again. Before Tylerr could rise, Serratus raised his hand in a stopping gesture.
"Enough. You need work but you will do. Go get your gun and your knife, then go to the kitchens, directly across from the apprentice quarters. Tell them that I said they were to give you your keep and when they ask how much to give you say five. You ought to get roughly one-fifth of what you got this morning. Once you have eaten your fill, meet me just oustide the Temple."
Tylerr Durden
Tylerr got up went to the kitchens and ate his meal. Then, he went to get his knife and blaster. After that, he went outside the temple to meet his master. He was still hurting from the fight earlier, but he wasn't going to give up now, especially now that he had come to such a remote planet for training.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus noted Tylerr's presence but said nothing. Instead he continued to stand outside the Temple in the freezing cold and staring out at the beautiful landscape.
Tylerr Durden
"Master, I am here." Tylerr said. He was sure the High Mage had already sensed his presence but he said that nontheless. Then he stood there, letting the cold wind slap his face, waiting for his master to repond.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus nodded.
"I noticed."
He continued to pay no heed to his apprentice's presence and noted the beauty of a particular set of mountains that formed the shape of a krayt dragon from a distance.
Tylerr Durden
"Master, what are we doing out here?" Tylerr inquired, as he started to get frostbitten on his fingers. He watched a small rodent burrow down under the snow a short distance from where he was standing and then looked up at the beautiful landscape.
High Mage Serratus
Serratus finally turned to his apprentice.
"I am testing and you are failing. The first weapon of a great hunter is patience. It seems you will have to be taught it."
He pointed to the mountain that was the snout of the krayt dragon.
"That mountain is roughly one day's steady walk from here and it will take you another day to reach the summit. You will go to the summit and wait. For what, I shall not say, but you, my apprentice, shall wait."
((This is a test of your writing skills. Write an account of your journey to the base of the mountain and subsequent scaling of the mountain. Make it good. I will be marking it and if you don't reach the required mark, you will have to do it again. I am also not telling you the required mark or the marking scheme. Go for it.))
