Background: Vala was the youngest daughter born to Michael and Selene Nighthawk on Malastare. She has and older sister named Kayida.
Vala’s parents have always told her to stay away from beings wielding lightsabers. They told her that having one would only lead her to trouble.
When Vala was 16 she witnessed a ship crash. Going against her parents wishes, she crept over to the wreck and saw a dead woman. Two black saber hilts caught her eye. She examined them and noticed a letter A on the butt of them. She’s kept the sabers ever since and began teaching herself to use them in her free time.
Vala got her ship as a gift from her father when she was 21.
Between the ages of 21 and 24 Vala's father taught her the ways of the Sith behind his wife's back. Michael knew from Vala's birth that she was force sensitive. He taught her torture techniqes and even "broke" her by having her murder a young child. Vala has never been the same since. A few months after Vala turned 24 Michael told her about an active Sith Temple on Kuat...

Vala is generally friendly but she can be dangerous if angered.

Terrible at negotiating and not confident in teaching others.

If you mean that you changed it, you still reference the Darksword Empire in your last part. "The Darksword Empire was falling apart..."
As well as referencing an Empress. While Saber or Ducki may have been Empress at some point, you'd have to check with the High Historian as to whether or not they would have been training you at all.
