Legalize Prostitution?

So the government doesn't regulate them for drugs? How often do they inspect, etc. Like any industry they require supervision.

It's quite simple. Element of danger may have something to do with it, but I am unsure. Basically, the legalised places only offer a few "services". The illegal ones you can do anything in, so long as you have the cash. Sometimes, it is not even sexual, but I won't say anymore about such... uncouth activities.

Are all brothels clean? My problem with brothels and just legalizing it completely is just that if you have a prostitute checked on a Monday, she sleeps with a guy who has aids that afternoon, she won't have the results of her test till another day and she's already technically clean by those results until the next following week where it's discovered. And who knows how many men that girl might have slept with in between. I don't think those tests are cheap so a brothel might not want to check a girl every couple days as it will be a high expense and since when did businesses care about anything other than money? You can't guaranty that people's lives are safe and that testing is going to work, there's always that time in between where something can go wrong.

Well, just think that if you actually legalize it and it becomes an okay thing to do then people will go in all the time. And if more people are going in, don't you think that someone who has aids but doesn't know might walk in there? Or possibly that someone who has AIDS but doesn't tell anyone might walk in? Prostitution is looked at as a taboo, something you don't condone but if it's okay I can see numbers slowly swelling up. While the argument is obviously based on possibility and what ifs, I'd rather look at a possibility than ignore it completely and have someone suffer for it.

I think it would. I believe it can be better controlled by decriminalizing it and regulating the activity. I find prostitution distasteful as I said before. I believe that a person's mind is more important than their body.

But prostitution has existed since the beginning of civilization and I don't believe it will cease to exist anytime soon.

I think a lot of women within my age group developed the separation of mind and body for social reasons. We felt exploited and desired for our minds to be the focus of attention. I fought for women in the priesthood, equal pay, causes like that. I worked jobs where men were more prevalent in the workforce than women and I wanted my intellect to prevail over how I looked.

Sleeping with the boss is not an accomplishment. An accomplishment is being promoted for doing a good job. The separation of mind and body became a signature of the movement to promote the cause of women's equality. Wholeness however is the recognition of both as important. At that I think men are better. Primarily due to the fact that you do not have the history of exploitation and the warrior is as respected among men as the intellectual.

That exploitive factor is why I have a distaste for prostitution. But at the same time, I believe the freedom to choose it is also important. (I shall now retire the soapbox to the corner-sorry)
