Debate Rules

Welcome the the forum of the board devoted to nothing but debates. In addition to the Forum Rules posted in Required Reading, these are some guidelines you must abide by to post here.
1.) You shall respect your fellow users. As this forum is entirely OUT OF CHARACTER everyone will treat each other like the decent humans we know we all are.
2.) No one-liner posts. Do not post in a debate if you cannot contribute to it. This includes off-topic remarks such as 'yeah,' 'I agree,' or 'that's not true.' To engage in a debate, have a strong opinion and evidence to back it up.
3.) The Moderators of this forum are the masters. The buck stops with them and whatever they say goes. If they lock a forum, don't reopen the topic. If things get too heated, they'll close it after letting everyone know why. They will approach all debates with caution, respect, and third party impartiality.
5.) Flaming, flame-bating and name-calling are strictly off limits. Users can be banned for comments made in this forum. Keep it polite.
6.) Don't bump your own topic.
7.) Provide sources, people will take you a whole heck of a lot more seriously unless it is a debate of opinion.
8.) Feel free to question a source, engage in a debate between two people or express your opinion so long as it doesn't break Rule Two.
9.) Questions that are vague or mean to flame a group of people or undermine belief in the wording will be closed for staff review and reopened after a PM is sent to the opener with clearer questions.
10.) Enjoy yourselves and make the most of the forum. I encourage you all to have fun debating current affairs, historical precedent, the law, ethics, religion, war, etc. Just do it in a mature fashion!
Some topics are barred from debate on TheDarkSithLords. Religion- any religion- is expressly forbidden from debate. The Bible, Koran, or Tao Te Ching are not viable sources for a debate. Arguing the pros and cons of belief, faith, or Creationism, etc. are not permitted. If you wish to debate religion, contact another user of the forum and do so in private.
