Welcome to the Dark Sith Lords discussion board. I am Lord Scourge, one of several Sith Lords on the board, as well as the Main Administrator, in charge of running the board that hosts the roleplaying and storytelling adventures of a Sith Empire that is set a long time ago, in a galaxy far, far away....
However, while I run the board itself, I do not command the Empire. That honor falls on Emperor Shadow, who commands us all with a harsh but fair rule. You will find out the Empire is vast and complicated, and there are many opportunities for a Sith who wishes to join us and rise through the ranks.
In order to gain rank and power on this board, you will want to know the rules which are enforced here, and how things are managed, both through the in-character roleplay, and the out-of-character administration and moderation of the board itself. The rules are:
1) This is a roleplay board. We are here to develop characters within the context of a new Sith Empire. You may want to think about what kind of character you want to play before making an account. The structure of the board is centered around Force-users who wish to join the Empire, train as a Sith, and rise through the ranks. However, there are other options as well. We welcome Jedi from other forums, and simply ask them to identify themselves. We have a Bounty Hunter's Guild, accept Troopers to receive elite training in our Military, and could easily have some Smugglers ready to ply their trade here.
If you wish to join the Empire and train to become a Sith, you do not need to post in the Entrance Hall. Post your application to join the Empire in the Office of Citizenship forum, and see if there is a Master who wishes to train you.
If you do not wish to bother with the rank structure here, but would rather be a Bounty Hunter, introduce yourself as a Jedi, or be something else, then please post in the Entrance Hall so we can give you the appropriate "rank" for your position.
In either case, please put your name in the subject line of your introductory thread.
2) Do not create a name with "Darth", "Lord" or "Lady". Those are titles here, and will be granted to users as they advance within the ranks. Also, be original and don't call yourself Vader or Revan. Note that names common within the Star Wars context are fine as part of your name.
3) The number of posts you make has nothing to do with increasing your rank on this board. Once you have joined, a Sith Master can take you on as an Apprentice. The Master will then assign missions in the appropriate forums, and after you have completed your training, spending at least seven days roleplaying on the board, you will be granted a "Darth" name.
4) This is a roleplay board. If you're not interested in roleplaying, why are you here? This is not to say you have to roleplay all the time you are here, but be aware that anyone you talk to may be "in character", and saying things to them that don't make any sense within a Star Wars context is really just interrupting their roleplay. Please avoid references that only make sense on Earth. The major exceptions to this, are the forums within the Sith Errata section.
5) Forums are marked as In-Character and Out-Of-Character, and this indicates whether the posts in that forum are between the characters, or the players. The Entrance Hall, while unmarked, is mostly In-Character, but given that we often have to use this forum to clarify the board rules, there is quite a bit of Out-Of-Character posting as well.
((Often you will notice one portion of a post in double-parentheses, like this. Doing so is the standard way to mark OOC comments within an otherwise IC context.))
You are welcome to post to the Sith Errata forums as soon as you have made an account and posted your application in the Office of Citizenship or here in the Entrance Hall, but please wait until your profile has been accepted before posting to In-Character forums. Posting to random forums trying to get someone's attention will not endear you to anyone.
6) If you ask a Mod or Admin a question that is answered by an announcement thread, they may reply with nothing more than a link to the appropriate announcement. Most forums are for a specific purpose, and in most cases there is an announcement thread at the top of the threads that explains what is or is not appropriate to post in that forum. Additionally, there is a Royal Courtyard forum that explains what is or is not appropriate on the entire board.
7) If you have an objection to the behavior of another user, please direct that complaint to a Moderator of that forum, or an Administrator - please do not interrupt a roleplay with a complaint. If you have an objection to the behavior of a Mod or Admin, please direct that complaint to the Main Administrator, Lord Scourge. I try to log in at least once a day, but sometimes that's not possible. Sending me multiple PM's asking about the same issue is not appreciated.
8) In case you still haven't been paying attention, this is a roleplay board. If you challenge someone, expect them to respond in character. If you challenge a Sith Lord or Sith Lady, expect to lose your conflict with them. If you challenge our Emperor, expect many loyal Sith to respond to your treason.
I hope this is clear. If you ignore these guidelines, don't act surprised when an Admin or Mod tells you that what you have done is a problem.
