While Order 66 and the intitial purging of Jedi was undoubtedly done to ensure the greatest threat to Palpatine's rule was removed, I am surprised that - from what I've seen at least - no great focus was given to locating and killing Yoda or Obi-Wan. Both were on the Jedi Council at the time, and Obi-Wan had bested Anakin. Surely they presented a greater threat than any of the other Jedi Vader was sent after.

Even after Obi-Wan's death on the Death Star, both Palpatine and Vader seemed ignorant of Yoda. All comments relating to Luke's training were made with reference to Obi-Wan alone. Dagobah may've possessed a presence capaple of masking Yoda's, but surely Palpatine was powerful enough to have seen through it if he'd tried.

Did Palpatine think that their shame in failing would cause them to abandon all hope and die alone on some remote world? Or was it just easier for him to attempt to convert or kill any potential students who could've been drawn to the two ex-Council members?

The plans to which I refer are not those for the Death Star. They are in fact for a Sights-of-the-Galaxy themed restaurant, arcade and bowling alley complex. It is vital the Jedi do not get their hands on my plans...

I think he went the easy way and took out all young Jedi who would present a threat to him. Yoda and Obi-Wan would try to have a plan while other Jedi would openly attack him. And I think he knew of Yoda leaving to a remote planet, but since he presented no threat, he didn't bother with either of them.

It just seems odd that he went to all that effort with Order 66 and the Purge to let the two of the most powerful Jedi - both of whom he initially knew were alive - escape. If he did suspect Yoda and Obi-Wan of trying to plot against him, isn't that all the more reason to track and eliminate them?

Not if he din't view them enough of a threat. Think about it, with all the Jedi gone, Obi and Yoda have no good support. While Vade and Sidious have all Imperials, the Senate, stormtroopers, basically the Entire Empire supporting them.

Sidious knew that Yoda and Obi-Wan were no dumb Knights. The younger Knights, Olee Starstone for example, set off trying to raise a force. Thus, he sent Vader after them.

Yoda and Obi-Wan were just hiding away in their swamps and deserts respectively, making no direct threat to Sidious. If he had known they were going to train the son of The Chosen One....

Hmmm IMO GL didn't go into detail in this because it was irrelivent,or he overlooked it.

But speaking if this wasn't a movie, lol. I belieave they tried but failed...Remember Obi-wan and Yoda were both Master's of the Light and undoubtenlly had tricks to keeping there presence secret.

I've been away for a few months, been really busy. But, now I am back.

My position on Obi-wan and Yoda is that Palpatine seriously did try, along with Vader to destroy them. But, they were both a little wary of taking them on again after what had happened during thier last face offs.

I'm with um...Zahrim.

He wouldn't send Vader because both of them would have killed Vader easy

I am always replying to dead topics, so what else is new?

Anyway, I think that the Emperor did not just let those two very powerful jedi slide away. I am sure he put as much effort into finding them as he did maintaining himself. Though i am sure he did not see the possibility of them bringing together an army to stop him, he did see the possibilty of them creating another jedi to oppose him. Plus, Dagobah has a force nexus which, combined with force concealment I'd assume, could shield Yoda from Sideous no matter how powerful. How Obi Won somehow hid surprisese me, though Tatooine is indeed a place of criminals so I am sure that aided him in his exile just as Nar Shaddaa hid Jedi Master Zez-Kai Ell in KotOR II.

First off, Palpatine didn't know about Dagobah. It had been written off the records, wiped away. Yoda found it in the same way as he found Kamino. He used the Force to look for it. After he found it, he knew he would go there. When he got there, he found the cave and set up his dwelling there.
Early into his stay, a Dark Jedi came to the cave and they fought. Yoda obviously won, but the presence of that Dark knight stained the planet.

Because the power of the cave abd the presence of the Dark Jedi were so strong, Yoda was able to hide his presence behind them. That didn't mean he could wipe them out if he chose to, but for the sake of living, he hid himself behind the two.

Obi-WAn was a different story. He chose to hide in plain sight, and so far, I have no clue as to how he did it.

The pain of what happend to Vader on Tatooine ensured that he would never step on the planet again.

Palpatine was the one that ordered the removal of Dagobah and Kamino off the archives... So I believe he would know about it.

And Yoda didn't find Kamino through the Force. It was because the gravity was being pulled there, as it should with a planet, so he knew it was there.

I think Yoda hid where he did because the Dark Side Cave was able to mask his presence in the Force where Sidious was unable to find him.
