It's a pretty simple table top war-game. Like Warhammer in some ways, but based more on Dungeons and Dragons (which, incidently, has its own Miniatures game).
It is designed mostly to allow you to play small scale skirmishes. There are a number of factions from different eras of the Star Wars Universe:
KotOR Era - Sith, Old Republic & Mando
Clone War Era - Republic & Seperatists
Civil War Era - Rebellion & Imperial
NJO Era - New Republic & Yuuzhan Vong
As well as a generic faction - called Fringe, which is made up of mercenaries, bounty hunters, creatures, and other more general background characters).
With at least two players, each on can choose a faction and make a squad from the minis they have available. The Fringe minis can go on either side. You then use your squad to try and defeat the enemies.
Mission guides have also been released to allow you to play scenarios based on events in the movies or EU. For example - the assault on the Endor generator. These make things more complex, as a side can have specific objectives rather than just trying to kill all of the other sides forces.
Each player is able to make a squad up to a specific points cost from miniatures they have for a single faction. Any faction can take Fringe characters.
Set lists can be found here, as well as pictures of the various miniatures:

The plans to which I refer are not those for the Death Star. They are in fact for a Sights-of-the-Galaxy themed restaurant, arcade and bowling alley complex. It is vital the Jedi do not get their hands on my plans...
